A teacher is not merely an instructor; he is a builder of character whose values, guidance, and affection leave a lifelong impact on a student’s life. In the rush of daily responsibilities, it is often difficult to meet those who shaped our early journey. But when such moments arrive, they become deeply emotional and unforgettable. One such meaningful moment was experienced by myself and my friend and colleague Abu Saleh (Shahin) when we visited our beloved teacher Saidur Rahman (Saied) Hujur at our historic educational institution, Nawabganj Kamil Alia Madrasa.
We learned that Hujur had come to the madrasa during a short vacation, and upon hearing the news, we decided to meet him. The anticipation and joy of seeing our respected teacher after a long time filled our hearts with emotion. Nawabganj Kamil Alia Madrasa is not merely an educational institution for us; it represents a significant chapter of our lives where the bond between teacher and student resembled that of a family.
Currently, Saidur Rahman (Saied) Hujur is serving as the Principal of Nesarabad Women’s Madrasa. From the children’s level up to Kamil, he is the only male teacher in the entire institution—an exceptional responsibility that reflects his dedication and competence. Remarkably, he often manages official and administrative duties from across the Padma River, maintaining effective oversight despite geographical distance. His ability to lead and manage under such circumstances stands as a practical example of modern, responsible educational administration.
Saidur Rahman (Saied) Hujur is a former teacher of Nawabganj Kamil Alia Madrasa. Throughout his teaching career, he was known as a noble, humble, and modest individual. There was no arrogance or artificial distance in his behavior. His way of speaking, interacting, and carrying himself was simple and sincere, which naturally earned him deep respect and affection from both students and colleagues.
His affection for students was sincere and fatherly. He did not limit himself to teaching textbooks alone; rather, he consistently emphasized moral values, discipline, and humanity. Students, in return, held him in high regard and respected him deeply. Even today, his former students remember him with gratitude and honor.
During our meeting, Hujur was cheerful, warm, and full of life. He spent a considerable amount of time sharing memories and engaging in open conversation with us. He spoke about his teaching days, his current responsibilities, the future of madrasa education, and the importance of moral instruction in society. His thoughts and reflections left a profound impression on us and served as a renewed source of inspiration. Once again, it became clear that the bond between a teacher and his students never fades with time.
Hujur’s home district is Barishal, from where he continues to carry out his responsibilities at the women’s madrasa. Distance and workload have never stood in the way of his dedication. Instead, he has demonstrated how an educational institution can be efficiently managed even within limitations—through sincerity, discipline, and commitment.
Standing in the premises of Nawabganj Kamil Alia Madrasa, we felt deeply that this institution is not just a physical structure; it is a witness to the dreams, struggles, and successes of countless students. Teachers like Saidur Rahman (Saied) Hujur did not merely impart knowledge here—they shaped human beings.
This reunion reminded us once again that a true teacher never truly retires. Even after leaving the classroom, he continues to guide his students through his ideals, advice, and example. His influence remains a lifelong source of direction.
Overall, this reunion with our beloved teacher Saidur Rahman (Saied) Hujur was an emotional and unforgettable experience. In the midst of busy lives, such moments reconnect us with our roots and teach us gratitude toward those who helped shape who we are today.
