Yesterday, an old woman passed by. She kept recounting how she planted the tree years ago. When I considered the years she must have waited for its fruit, I admired her patience and vision.
It's sad to accept, but most us of will rather plant a maize seed than a peer seed if given the opportunity. Very few will be willing to wait.
This is a generation of 'sharp sharp', 'no time', and 'divine speed'. We lack the patience to grow slowly and wait for long term investments. We are all in a hurry to attain our peak.
We foresee a bright tomorrow, but many are unwilling to patiently walk and work towards it, instead we attempt shortcuts and find ourselves in a dead end.To succeed however, we must be willing to take the long path to our promised land. Between seedtime and harvest, vision and its fulfilment is TIME. Let's face it.
It takes time to grow spiritually, to become a leader, to grow a multi million enterprise, to acquire a degree or build a ministry. We all grow with time.
When we learn this, we will make the most of today, and live with contentment while making solid investments towards our dream future.
Remember, the continual productivity of the peer tree will never be compared with the maize plant whose value is limited to only a planting season. For one we waited for years, the other for months. The difference was time.
The patient dog still eats the fattest bone.
For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Hab. 2:3.
