He's a wonder kid. At 19, he does something beholding of a player with age bestowing wisdom upon him. How did he come to be all round maturity? Kudos to his team, kudos to him. At his young age, he plays with unusual class, more like a kid with an old head on his shoulders. If he keeps his head stooped, his back hunched in humility, though carrying a boulder of confidence in his heart, he may just be the next sensation after Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafa Nadal. Kyrgios is going to rue his quarter final exit till he again has to compete in his home turf in Australia Open next year. Of course he admitted being unbearably devastated after his loss. With Rafa Nadal having been knocked out early, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic absent, Medvedev knocked out, Alexander Zverev, absent, Rublev knocked out leaving younger players who hadn't won a Grand Slam left, he just could have taken his destiny in his hands. Tried as he did though, it ended in his quarter final exit. The treachery of fate! Well, it's all about the sensational kid on the block - Carlos Alcarez.
He did it folks. At 19, he's a first time winner of a Grand Slam. I can only imagine the "queer" feeling, the unbelievability of the feat, the ecstatic awe, the bewilderment of the feat, the sheer, blissful elation. Congratulations Carlos Alcarez! Let's meet and do it again in Australia Open next year - the first Grand Slam of the year.
