Premier League giants have less than 2 months until the season begins, and they’re working non-stop to make new moves. One of those in dire need of reinforcements are definitely the Gunners. After yet another disappointing season, Arsenal is looking to bolster several areas, starting with the defense. Per the latest reports, Mikel Arteta’s team is closing in on a move for Brighton’s young and hopeful defender Ben White.
White impressed last year for Brighton who are not in the Premier League for five straight seasons. The centre-back was one of the best players in the squad, and has been a target for several PL clubs. Arsenal was in that group straight from the beginning, and as things stand now, it may secure the services of the young defender for a price of £50 million.
A Second Bid Accepted
Arsenal has been gunning for Ben White for a while now. Reports from England say that the Gunners have seen a £40 million bid rejected, only to come back with an improved offer. This one was reportedly accepted, with only personal terms to be agreed between White and the North London club.
The defense was one area where Arsenal certainly didn’t impress. Ben White is a great young player that will certainly turn heads at the North London outfit. He may even slide into the first 11, although this move raises concerns over William Saliba’s development.
The young Frenchman has yet to play a single minute in London, even though he’s hailed as a big future star. With Arsenal in advanced negotiations with White, it could spell the end of Saliba’s unfortunate Arsenal career.
One thing’s for sure. Mikel Arteta is not happy with his squad and he’s already working on improvements. Rumors are that Ben White is just the first of more than a few signings that could help get Arsenal back where the club belongs – in PL title discussions.
