I've been watching football all my life and I know little to nothing about other sports. I've been trying to keep myself equipped to learn about other sports but football will always take over as the priority.
I love football (as I believe exists with other sports too) due to the rollercoaster of emotions. As Sir Alex Ferguson once said, "Football, bloody hell!". Nothing is ever cast in stone and I must say that despite being used to the dramas in the Premier League, I still got shell shocked with the last day of the season games.
I expected Manchester City to win against Aston Villa even though I predicted that game would be tough and it was tough. I didn't expect Aston Villa to race to a 2-0 lead. I was hoping they would hold Manchester City till the 70th minute before Manchester City would score but they were 2-0 up and they deserved those goals despite City's dominance.
Football is full of crazy moments and in 5 crazy minutes when I felt all hope was lost for Manchester City, they scored 3 goals. Some people said that Gerrard is used to bottling since he slipped that season that Chelsea won the league and now, he had the opportunity of winning the league indirectly for his former side; Liverpool and he bottled it. He never won it as a player and many Liverpool fans were banking on him to pull it off.
For a minute, Liverpool fans started dreaming of winning the league. They had their struggles against Wolves too but they eventually overcame and won by 3-1 even though it meant nothing since Manchester City already won against Villa at that time.
Premier League is blessed with a rollercoaster of emotions, bravery and insane mad moments where the unexpected can happen. The games would make you think in a certain way before a ball was kicked, nudge you in another direction during the game and just by the final whistle you are treated to another reality. This was the same feeling Manchester United had when they thought they had won the league until Aguero happened.
I still can't believe Leeds United pulled it off as they called it. They managed to win their game and Burnley lost against Newcastle United which made Burnley go down and Leeds United enjoyed another season of Premier League football. Jesse Marsch pulled this one off and his appointment has been justified because Leeds had an unexpected season and I was scared they might lose their best players when they relegate but they pulled a miraculous escape on the last day of the season to sink the hearts of Burnley.
There was no surprise with the Manchester United and Crystal Palace game. I predicted United would lose by 2-1 but the game ended 1-0 thanks to Zaha, showing his former team how it should be done.
I enjoyed the last game of the season because I was moving from one game to the other to have a feel of what the atmosphere was in the stadium. It was a crazy end of the season and Arsenal ended with a thumping of Everton. Everton knew they have been saved so I believe they let it down a bit and it might have been different if their Premier League status depended on it. The win still wouldn't displace Tottenham as they sat in 4th place ahead of their North London rivals.
Son scored double while Salah scored once. They both sit pretty at the top of the golden boot for the season with 23 goals.
How did the end of the season emotions play out for you? For me, it was intense, crazy, unpredictable and shocking. I wouldn't want it any other way and this is why I love football.
