Wat Rong Khun is one of the best known temples in Thailand. The temple outside the city of Chiang Rai attracts a large number of visitors, both local and foreign tourists, therefore Wat Rong Khun is one of Chiang Rai's most visited tourist destinations both foreign and local tourists @gibran** *** ***  *** *** **The beauty of wat Rong Khun tourism is a unique and prominent temple through white and the use of pieces of glass in plaster, sparkling in the sun. The white color signifies the purity of the Buddha, while the glass symbolizes the wisdom of the Buddha and Dhamma, Buddhism. Wat Rong Khun is the work of a famous Thai artist named Chalermchai Kositpipat. He has the ambition to create architectural masterpieces that can be remembered for all time. The construction of Wat Rong Khun has been started since 1997, but until now it is still a process of development and improvement. Kositpipat is not playing games. He has prepared followers so that this project will continue even if the artist dies. Later, the complex of Wat Rong Khun will be equipped with museums, crematoriums, monasteries, pagodas, and other supporting buildings. The Wat Rong Khun building painted in white has shown that this is not an ordinary temple. Temples in Thailand are generally golden in color which symbolizes purity and prosperity. But Kositpipat hit this grip, even boldly using white which in Asian culture is considered a symbol of grief. According to Kositpipat, the color of gold is only suitable for people who are subdued by Satan's temptations. On the contrary, the white color is said to symbolize the peace and purity of the Buddha. Kositpipat also uses pieces of glass as building decorations. This ornament makes Wat Rong Khon glow in the sun, like the Buddhist wisdom that illuminates the universe @gibran** *** ***   *** *** **Towards the end of the 20th century, Wat Rong Khun was in a state of very poor conservation, the restoration work at the temple began, but had to be stopped due to lack of funds. On May 5, 2014 a strong earthquake struck Chiang Rai. Although the white temple was badly damaged, Chalermchai Kositpipat decided to restore and expand Wat Rong Khun.Chalermchai Kositpipat, an artist born in Chiang Rai, decided to truly rebuild the temple and fund the project with his own money. This temple was built to be the center of learning and meditation and for people to benefit from Buddhism @gibran** *** ***  *** *** **The main building of the White Temple, reached by crossing a bridge over a small lake. In front of the bridge is a circular area with hundreds of hands (reach) this symbolizes desire. This area is human and hell suffering. The bridge to ubosot (main building) called the bridge of the "cycle of rebirth" signifies crossing from the cycle of death and rebirth to a country free from suffering. It symbolizes the path to happiness by overcoming worldly things as temptation, greed and desire. Next to the lake stands two very elegant statues of Kinnaree, creatures from Buddhist mythology, half human, half bird @gibran** *** ***  *** *** **Wat Rong Khun is located off the Highway (Phahonyothin road) about 15 kilometers south west of the city of Chiang Rai. The most convenient way to get there is by private taxi. The trip from the city takes around 20 minutes, the tariff is between 250 and 300 Baht. This place is also quite easy to get to the white temple using public transportation. The bus departs from the old bus station near the night market in downtown Chiang Rai. The trip takes around 30 minutes, the tariff is 20 Baht one way.
