Having an idea, understanding the market, and securing finance isn't enough to become successful as an entrepreneur with a startup idea. Before going into any battle, it is important to know how to get in, arrange your army, and how to get out. This is known as Strategy. Strategy is important to an entrepreneur just as finance is important. Spending a penny on a business without a strategy is similar to setting the money on fire.

As a startup entrepreneur, understanding the market is supposed to give you an edge to be able to identify your customers, your suppliers, and your competitors. How you will take over the market, depends on your market. As a startup entrepreneur, if your customers are Low income earners, you need to create a business to become the low-cost leader in the business. You are to look for every way to ensure that your product has the lowest price in the market. If you are dealing with high income, luxury class customers, then no doubt your product has to be targeting that class, with higher charges than your competitors.
In cases where the product is the first of its kind in the market, then you need to ensure that you are using the first mover advantage properly. Ensure that you make the market difficult to be penetrated by soon to be competitors (trust that when you are the first in a market with success, competitors will come up as fast as possible).
When creating the business, if you are aiming to create sustainable growth in the business, then it means that you are going to be investing the profits of the business back into the business to see it grow, thereby looking at profitability over an extended period of time.
You need to be able to tell what your business/product aims at getting and have a strategy to get it done. If the business is going to create a paradigm shift, then it will require constant development and more marketing as people are going to find it hard to leave their previous product to test your revolutionary product.
Getting into a business, and spending money to get it set without having a plan on what and how to get it done is surely going to lead to a failed business. The main goal of creating a business is to make profit, and in other to do that, all steps needed to get it done should be properly taken into consideration.
