971 players were initially registered to play in the IPL next year. From there, a short list of their favorite cricketers gives the franchisees IPL authority. In all, 186 Indians and 146 foreign cricketers are going to auction in Kolkata on December 19. A maximum of eight cricketers will be able to buy eight franchises from the auction. Among them, the maximum number of foreigners is 29.
