Tim Berners-Lee Sir Timothy John Berners-Lee was born on the 8th of June, 1955 and was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2004 for his pioneering work. He is regarded as the inventor of the world wide web and was the first man to implement a successful communication between HTTP client and server in November 1989 over the internet. He currently lectures computer Science at Oxford University and MIT. Tim Berners-Lee is the directer of W£C, a consortium that oversees the development of the internet and was named in Time magazine's list of the 100 most important people of the 20th century.
