100 Years Of The Bauhaus

Staatliches Bauhaus often referred to as simply Bauhaus is a German school of art established officially on 12 April 1919. This year, the world celebrates a 100 years of the establishment of this school. Bauhaus which is translated from Germany as *"building house"* was not a architecture school despite it's name. In 1933, the Nazi regime forced the hands of the leadership of the school to close it down because they believed it was an avenue for communist intellectualism. >“Together let us desire, conceive, and create the new structure of the future, which will one day rise toward heaven from the hands of a million workers like the crystal symbol of a new faith.” - Walter Gropius The centenary celebration preparations began as far back as 2016 and some exhibitions were even held in 2017. There will be a large opening festival in Berlin with contemporary, performances, music and film. There will also be a world tour covering five continents to celebrate the anniversary and invite the world to the centenary celebration.
