Beautiful lotus

Hello everyone! How are you, friends?

Have you ever had the chance to see a lotus in the wild? I have by luck. Absolutely by chance. We were on a trip to Italy. Before the covid, it was a common occurrence for us-traveling. My husband and I are big fans of travelling around the regions, going to museums, eating in the best restaurants. He searched for an itinerary in advance, booked a hotel, looked for restaurants with good food and discounts on a special website. And we were always satisfied with our travels.

And so we went to Verona, and Mantova is not far away. This region is call Lombardy, a 2 hour drive from us. Of course, on the motorway, he was speeding as usual, on the middle line or even the one on the left first, for overtaking and high-speed cars. I grumbled, then turned onto the usual intercity roads and I admired the incredibly beautiful scenery. Italy's nature is magnificent. I certainly like the hilly terrain better, but the mountains are beautiful in Italy too, if you don't climb up the narrow roads. The Italian region of Lombardy has a rather famous ancient town of Mantua or Mantova. We stayed there for three days. We walked around the town, had lunch in the local trattorias, where the food is insanely good. 

And when it seemed like we had seen everything, on the advice of our hostess, we took a walk to the lake and take a small steamboat to take a trip on the lake.

How pleasantly we were surprised to find that almost the entire lake is planted with lotus. It was incredible! So fantastic! The lotus is a divine flower, signifying the path to enlightenment! And we saw it.

I had never seen a lotus before. Its beauty entranced me! 

The amazing thing is, from that trip, I remember it covered the lake with lotuses, though they had just bloomed, and we did not see the full bloom, when all the flowers were in full bloom. And one tract where we had dinner. It was a total head-scratcher. I didn't want to leave there. There was such delicious meat in sauce and some insanely delicious mushroom pasta that I still think I could find my way to that tract. 

Believe me, I have been to too many restaurants in Italy, there are some that I still remember and this trattoria is one of them. I remember we paid a lot of money, but it was worth it.
