Basic life principles

Greetings to all my dear friends! How are you? How are you feeling?

About 25 years ago, I came across a book called "The Third Eye" by the author Rampa Lobsang. About the life of Tibetan monks. How boys are brought up, who will live in monasteries and to be started into monkhood. How difficult the path is. Boys at 3-6 years are already being prepared for the trials. And not all boys in a row, but only those to whom this honour has fallen. Parents from childhood are very attentive to their children and see those who may be initiated. They work with them, take them to the monks, so they give their word, if they can initiate this child.

And of course when we hear about Tibet and the Tibetan monks, thoughts immediately come to mind of wisdom, fortitude, calmness, strength of mind and lightness. They live a measured life, mostly in prayer.

And modern people hardly know what calm and measured way of life is. For many people stress is a normal part of normal life.

There are problems at work, or in family, or children, or health problems, or parents being ill... and so every single day - stress!

These are the principles of life of Tibetan monks, which would be very useful to adopt for most people:

1.Practice asceticism

The philosophy of asceticism is that one can be content with little in life and not chase luxuries. Look at the monks, they wear the same clothes all the time. They do not have expensive fur coats and even in frosty weather they have light clothes, because they harden their organism from childhood and they fall ill rarely.

We buy food in supermarkets by carts and then throw half of it away as the storage time has expired.

Every year we refresh our wardrobe by buying new clothes, even though there is no room for any other clothes in the wardrobe. Why do we need so many clothes, anyone? And if you limit yourself a little bit in all this, nothing bad will happen. You don't have to spend too much effort, time and money on things you can do without, and life will get a little easier. Maybe then you will finally have enough money, too.

2.live in the present

Tibetan monks urge us to remember to live for today, and not for the future or the past. Many people like to live memories of the past. Worrying about what it has done/It is all useless, because one cannot change anything in the past.

And of course, living only with thoughts of the future is not right either. Especially saying that I'll still have time to do this and that I'll do that later.

Choose the golden mean and live in the present: properly, comfortably and well. Not to say that when I will have a flat, I will live this way and that way. Live now the way you would like to live tomorrow!

3.Embrace change

Put out of your mind the idea that things used to be better. This way, your mind can better accept what is happening today and you may finally start to enjoy the change. So it is better to just accept the situation and not stand still, but move with the world.

4 Learn from others.

It is always important to learn from others. Never assume you are the smartest, even if you are no longer young. Age is experience and of course, it enriches adults compared to the young. But unfortunately, age does not show that you are smarter than others. It is not always an indicator of wisdom and intelligence. If you meet someone who is smarter than you, try to learn something useful for them.

5 Take time for yourself and your rest every day.

Remember to rest, so that you can get your strength back. And it's very helpful to take a few minutes a day to yourself to listen to your thoughts, quietly analyze what's going on in your life, think about what to do next, and evaluate your successes and mistakes. This will help you learn not to make decisions in the heat of the moment and will make you a little calmer.

6.Learn to understand other people

A very important principle. God has created us unique, each with a specific set of chromosomes, neuronal connections, skills, abilities, life experiences. All this was given to us not for arguing with another person, but for sharing our experience, for knowing another person, similar to ourselves, but different. It should be respectful and respectful of the other person!

If you try to apply these rules in life, I am sure that each of us will find harmony and happiness in life. Become kinder and more attentive to themselves and the other person!

Thank you for reading
