Conte hopes Heung-min will be fit before the World Cup

Son Heung-min is in doubt for the Qatar World Cup due to an eye injury. South Korea is in fear of losing the captain. However, Antonio Conte, the coach of the forward's club Tottenham Hotspur, gave hope to his country and his supporters.

The Italian coach believes that Heung-min will recover before the World Cup.

Heung-min was in the starting XI in Tuesday's 2-1 win over Marseille in the Champions League. In the 23rd minute, he was picked up by the coach as he injured his left eye in a collision with an opponent's player.


Tottenham later announced that Heung-min will need surgery to recover from the injury. Surgery was done on Friday.

When reporters asked about this after the match against Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday, Conte said that he is hopeful of seeing the 30-year-old footballer in the World Cup.

“I sent him a message yesterday after the surgery and Sonny (Son Heung-min) is very, very disappointed about the situation. But I hope he recovers well and plays in the World Cup."


"I am confident, confident that he will come back soon and play for South Korea in the World Cup."

Heung-min scored 35 goals in 104 matches for Korea.

South Korea's first match in Group H in the World Cup will be against Uruguay on November 22.
