Muslim sister meets Sikh brother after 75 years

Not 5 or 10 years, Sikh brother met Muslim sister after 75 years. Such a rare incident happened in Kartarpur, Pakistan. The Express Tribune

Brother Amarjit Singh and his sister Kulsoom Akhtar were separated after partition in 1947. At that time Kulsoom Akhtar's family migrated to Pakistan leaving one son and one daughter in India.

Kulsum told The Express Tribune that she was born in Pakistan after moving from India. Earlier in 1947, his parents left a brother and a sister in a small suburb of Jalandhar, India.


Kulsoom's mother often cries for the children left behind in India. However, Kulsum gave up hope of meeting her brother due to lack of communication opportunities.

Finally, with the help of Sardar Dara Singh, a friend of Kulsum's father, Kulsum and her family found the missing brothers and sisters.

He said that his sister is no longer alive but his brother Amarjit Singh is in the same city.

After that, Kulsoom contacted brother Amarjit through WhatsApp and expressed his interest in meeting. It was after this that Singh began to struggle to go to Pakistan.

Finally, he crossed the Attari-Wagha border and reached Pakistan. After more than 7 decades, brothers and sisters met at Gurdwara Darbar Sharif in Kartarpur, Pakistan. Brother Amarjit hugged his sister with tears after meeting the family after so long. Meanwhile, a heartbreaking situation arose.
