Pakistani army chief wants peace with India

Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Saturday (October 8) emphasized the need for regional peace with India. He also called for a mechanism to resolve all bilateral issues peacefully. He warned that the cost of instability could be devastating for both countries. This information was given in a report of Pakistani news media Dawn.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa said at a function organized on the occasion of the passing-out parade of the 146th PMA Long-Course at the Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul, 'We must create an opportunity for peace by developing a mechanism to resolve all our bilateral issues peacefully. Moreover, instead of fighting against each other, we should fight hunger, poverty, illiteracy, population growth, climate change and disease together.'

He further said, 'I want to emphasize here that our desire for peace should not be understood as our weakness. Pakistan has extended sincere and all-out efforts to develop good neighborly relations with all neighboring and regional countries.'
