PROMOTED FULHAM WINS THE CHAMPIONSHIP

 

Mittrovic celebrates scoring his 43rd goal of the Championship Season, breaking Guy Whittingham's 1992-1993 record of 43 goals.

 

Fulham defeated Luton Town 7-0 as they won the championship title for the first time in 21 years. The game was looking relatively balanced for Luton Town who were missing a lot of First team players due to injury. But it didn't take long before Tom Calney opened the scoring for Fulham, with a superb strike. They never looked like stopping as Tete doubled their lead soon after. Mitrovic added two record-breaking goals in the second half of the game as he equaled, and set a new record for most league goals in a season breaking Guy Whittingham's 1992-1993 record.

Luton's biggest loss of the season saw them drop to sixth. They are still in the Playoffs spot but need to beat Reading, to be certain that Middlesbrough cannot overtake them.

Fulham had earlier been promoted on the 19th of April with a 3-0 win over Preston North End, but a string of bad results meant that they'd have to wait a little longer for their title parade. The win over Luton Town put them out of Bournemouth's reach and eventually won them the title.
