The Serie A otherwise known as the Italian Serie A is one of the European top Leagues that are yet to find a winner. The league might likely go down to the final Match day.
At the end of game week 35, AC Milan lead the league on 77 point with Inter Milan closely Behind on 75 points. Napoli were on 3rd Place with 71 points and mathematically, it was still possible for them to win the league as they were left with 3 games to play and a maximum of 9 points to be won.
AC MILAN
AC Milan has lots of tough fixtures to close out the season, having to play the likes of Lazio, Fiorentina, Atalanta and Sassuolo. They’ve indeed shown the resolve of champions, scoring a winner in the 92nd Minute, to dispatch Lazio and another winner in the 82nd Minute to see off Fiorentina. They are currently down by one point with a game at hand, a draw would see them level on points with inter Milan with Inter having a superior goal difference. Their destiny is in their hands though as a win in their last 3 games would see them win the league regardless on Inter Milan’s Result. Can they pull it off? Only time will tell.
INTER MILAN
Inter Milan on the other hand has a relatively easier set of fixtures. They currently lead AC Milan by one point having played a game more. They’ve also shown the resolve of champions as well, winning Empoli 4-2 after being two goals down in 28 minutes. A Romagnoli OG and a Lautaro Martinez double turned the game on its head, before Alexis Sanchez delivered the icing on the cake by scoring in the 94th minute to see out the game. With two games, Inter hope to win their remaining 2 league games and also pray that AC Milan drops point, only then can they win this league. This is football though, anything is bound to happen. They Play Juventus in the Coppa Italia finals on Wednesday.
NAPOLI
Napoli saw their hope of a first league title in 32 years vanish in the final games of the League season. Some weeks ago, they were at the summit of the premier league table but a loss of 8 points in the final 4 games saw them plummet down the table to third place on 70 points. Although Mathematically, They still stand a chance of winning the league but their chances are slim. They play Torino this week, with Genoa and Spezia to close out the season
JUVENTUS
Juventus are having a relatively poor season by their standards, after they missed out on the league for the first time in 10 years and narrowly qualified for the champions league last season, they’ve relatively bounced back. Following Roma’s draw against Bologna last week, Juventus qualified for Next Season’s Champions League but are out of in contention for the league title. They play Inter Milan on Wednesday in the Coppa Italia finals.
ROMA
AS Roma are in Pole position to qualify for the Europa League. They currently lead 7th and 8th place fiorentina and Atalanta by 3 points and are level on points (59) and Goal difference with 6th placed Lazio. The Special one, Jose Mourinho hopes to return Roma, where they belong at the top of Italian football hierarchy albeit with a limited budget.
RELEGATION ZONE
In the relelgation Zone, we have Venezia in the 20th position, they are 7 points off the safety zone and will most likely be relegated. Genoa and Cagliari are both on 28 points, just 1 point off Salernitana who are on 29 points and 5 points of Sampdoria and Spezia who are on 33 points each.
The title and the relegation battle in the Italian Serie A would definitely go down to the final game of the season, who do you think will be the winners in both Categories?
