Today I want to show you how you can create beautiful earrings and a pendant from polymer clay with your own hands. The technique for creating this pattern is called MIKA SHIFT. Its peculiarity is that, thanks to micro particles of metal in polymer clay, the pattern is preserved on a flat surface, and looks like three-dimensional.
It is not difficult to make such jewelry, you can do it in about 1-1.5 hours.
Tools and materials:
* polymer clay with metallic effect
* working surface
* stationery knife or blade
* pasta machine
* embossed sheet to create a print
* fittings for assembling jewelry
In my work I use two colors of polymer clay. I roll them out on a pasta machine at the greatest thickness. and put it on the work surface (I have this tile, and then I bake the products on it).
I stack the layers one on top of the other and roll them with a rolling pin so as not to leave air bubbles.
After that, I take a sheet with a relief and press it tightly against the polymer clay so that the whole drawing is well imprinted.
Now the most interesting and difficult part is that it is necessary to carefully cut off all the clay protruding to the surface with a knife, so that the layer becomes flat.
As you can see in the photo, the pattern was preserved on polymer clay.
Next, I cut out blanks for earrings and a pendant in the form of a drop.
I make holes for the fittings and bake them in the oven according to the instructions of the polymer clay manufacturer.
When the products have cooled down, I cover the earrings and the pendant with two layers of varnish. The varnish seems to "reveal" the pattern - it becomes even brighter and more beautiful.
After varnishing, I attach the necessary accessories and the decorations are ready!
This is what the reverse side of the products looks like. When I varnished, I added some golden highlights with dry pigment. It turned out to be more interesting.
