Bangladesh Football Federation (BAFFE) has taken this initiative. The name of the franchise league will be 'Bangladesh Women's Super League'.
It was officially launched at a ceremony at La Méridien Hotel on Monday. The first franchise league for girls will be held in May this year.
Six teams will play in the league. Although there are plans to play at two venues, Sylhet has been given priority. Because the renovation work of Bangabandhu National Stadium is still going on.
For the franchise league, there will be three to four national team players in three categories A, B and C. Each team can take two footballers outside the category. Each team can field five foreign players. Among these, two players from South Asian countries have the opportunity to register.
Fahad Karim of K Sports, organizer of the league, said, "Girl footballers have raised the red-green flag on foreign soil. So this is the right time for such an event for them.
BAFF president Kazi Salauddin said, "Both the CEO of K Sports and the chairman of the Women's Football Committee discussed this with me. I see this league as a positive. The girls will benefit financially and get a chance to play more matches.
SAFF champion captain Sabina Khatun said, 'We are eagerly waiting. Not only our footballers, many people from South Asia are contacting us.
