Mohera Zamindar Bari, Tangail

This Zamindar house was built in the style of the city of Cordoba, Spain before the 1890s.

It is said that two brothers named Kalicharan Saha and Anand Saha moved Mohera Village in Calcutta, earning a lot of money by trading in Salt and Pulses. Then they build this huge house. When the Zamindar system was introduced in the British period, their children bought some of the surrounding areas.

During the war of independence the Pak army attackef the Zamindar's house. In that attack five villagers, including the bridge of the Zamindar's house, were ruthlessly killed. Later the Mukti bahini camp was set up in this house.

After independence, an initiative was taken to establish the Zamindar house as a Police training center.

The Zamindar's house has four buildings namely Chowdhuri Lodge, Maharaja Lodge, Ananda Lodge and Kalicharan Lodge. There is also Naib Bhaban, Kachari Bhaban and Rani Mahal. In front of the house there is a huge lake which is known as Bishakha Sagar. Behind the buildings there are two ponds called Pashra Pond and Rani Pond.

Where other Zamindar have become ghost houses, there is so much talk about the house of Mahera zamindar. His craftsmanship is still glamorous. 

The distance from Tangail to Mohara is 16 Kilometers. Many buses are available from our capital city Dhaka to Tangail. From Tangail you can come to Natiapara bus stand by any bus of your choice. 

You have to get down at Natiapara and come to Moherapara Police center by CNG, Rickshaw and Taxi.

To enter here you have to pay an entrance fee of 60 Rupees. At present, scince the police training center is functioning in this house, permission must be obtained to enter.
