De toekomst van het contante geld
(Englisch translation under this text)

The future of cash
Imagine that you have to hand over all your money to the state, both the cash and the money in your bank account. Because the current means of payment will no longer be used as legal tender. It will be replaced by a digital currency, which is owned by the government. So they can see what you buy, when you buy and where you buy. It may not sound like a real scenario. Yet this is most likely the future for residents of the European Union.
It is not new that the government wants to get rid of cash, but it was not yet known that the normal bank account is now also in danger of disappearing. The ECB (European central bank) is working on a digital currency. This money belongs to the government. The cash in the European Union belongs to the government, and the money in the bank account belongs to the banks themselves. As a standard reason, it is naturally suggested that this digital currency would help reduce crime. A new online currency would also give citizens more confidence because the money belongs to the government. That is of course nonsense. Most people are not even aware of who 'their' money actually is, and trust in the government is also limited.
The real reason of the government, to have its own digital currency, has nothing to do with trust and crime. This online currency should make it easier to levy taxes. After all, they can see exactly what, where and when you buy, but tax can also be asked if money is deposited. It is also likely that the transaction costs will be high. After all, there is only one bank, so a detour is not possible. This also applies to negative interest. You cannot withdraw your money from the bank and are therefore forced to pay interest on your money. Your privacy is also gone. That may not seem so bad, but they can see everything. This makes it possible for the government to map people's behaviour. In the event of undesirable behaviour, such as the (frequent) consumption of meat, access to your money can be blocked. This allows desired behavior to be enforced.
How can you buy things without the government watching? The answer to this is cryptocurrency. As it stands, the government cannot yet ban or combat cryptocurrency. When this new government digital currency is introduced, Serey can therefore offer a good alternative to cash. I hope that Serey's network will grow quickly so that an online society can be built. In the Netherlands, the Forum for Democracy party is already working on such a digital society. So that everyone within the community can pay each other with an alternative currency (ForumCoin), without the government being able to follow this. For me, both Serey and ForumCoin can offer a great solution at a time when the left-wing stronghold of the European Union is gaining more and more power.

I'm afraid that you're right that the central bank digital currency is coming soon. The ECB recently published a report that there are many risks of not issuing a cbdc. They're afraid that the people will choose a currency of their own liking like other cryptocurrencies (Forumcoin, Serey coin, BTC, Diem etc.) I think it's necessary for us to add technologies that mimic the privacy feature of cash. That's what we are looking into with Serey as well: adding a layer of technology for private Serey coin transfers.
"I hope that Serey's network will grow quickly so that an online society can be built."
I like what you're saying here. A digital currency requires a large network of people, so I think that starting with a social network will help us to kickstart a more widely adopted currency.

Yeah, the digital applications and the ForumCoin of FvD show how visionary Thierry is. We are working hard on making this a reality, and if successful it will be a total gamechanger for the sociopolitical landscape in the Netherlands.
Exactly it's already happening a few years with the criptocurrency market, although people are making money with it. Banks see it as a threat

Of course Dinand this is exactly where this whole charade is leading to. The discussion about replacing money has been there for a long time now, the only thing is that we were just slowly loured into this situation through first paying everything online easy with your credit card and then getting used to possibilities like PayPal and then ApplePay and co. And of course, the scenario to "take money away from the people" is a horror scenario. Political parties all over the EU and the world have been trying to break the "ruling over Europe" and there are even a few countries who still have their currency. That's why I think sites like serey who are trying to set up new economies of trade with the content of the users are the thing of the future. The more people engaging in these kinds of communes the more impact it will get. We should leave the mainstream channels like FB, Linked In, Twitter, YouTube, etc., and discuss here. The engagement will start new power to the people
