Within a week, the image of the Syrian war has changed. In these seven days, President Donald Trump has ordered the withdrawal of US troops from northern Syria through his "great and unparalleled wisdom".
Some of his scheduled events betrayed the American allies and the Syrian Kurds. On the other hand, open the door to possibilities for the opposition, namely Turkey, Syria's Bashar al-Assad's regime, its supporters, Russia and Iran, and the militant group Islamic State.
The Syrian eight-year war has reorganized and changed the image of the Middle East. And the past week was another new turning point.
Presumably, President Trump's intelligence had given him a glimpse of this in advance. Or his habit of relying on his own instincts, has led him to make fatally wrong decisions about the complex situation in the Middle East.

When the United States sought to train and arm Syrian Kurds and Arabs to fight against IS, their futuristic-looking ally was seeing another NATO ally Turkey. But in the future, Washington pretended not to see the problem. And now that future has come, and the problem has escalated.

On Sunday, the Kurds announced that they had signed an agreement with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. As per the agreement, Assad troops have also been granted access to areas that have not been able to establish control of the border with Turkey since 2002.
This is a major victory for Bashar al-Assad's regime. Troops were quickly evacuated from the bases in the northeast. Assad's loyalists have raised the Syrian flag.
This was a scary day for American Middle East policy. The allies of the Kurds, the security of their own governance in parts of Syria, all together gave the Americans a side in the game of war. It was the supporting force of the Assad Empire: a way to keep Russia and Iran apart. It is also a win for them to leave the Americans and advance the Syrian forces.
It also created an opportunity for the resurgence of the jihadist extremist Islamic State. In a message app called Telegram, they have announced new violence in Syria. They lost their occupied territory or the Caliphate, but those who were out of jail were preparing to launch a new guerrilla attack involving themselves in a sleeper cell.
Now that the Kurds are pushing, they are dreaming of releasing thousands of fighters detained in Kurdish prisons.
Many of them are notorious murderers who, once again, get the chance to carry guns and grenades will become a major threat. And it will not just be for Syria but it will spread far and wide. In fact, Western governments are in awe of the threat of a new IS.
