All the same is true for communicating with the closest, but negative-minded people, but here everything is much more difficult and serious. If you spend most of your time surrounded or even live with people who do not support you, constantly criticize you, constantly give uninvited advice, put pressure on you and force you to do what they think is right.
Or, even worse, if they offend or commit violence against you, you simply have to distance yourself from them by any means and stop all attempts to force these people to change. And believe me, this is really a matter of life or death, your life or death, perhaps not literally, but it is a very, very important and necessary step.
Very often in such critical situations, when there is no other way out but to gather our strength and pull ourselves out of the oppressive, destructive environment, instead we get bogged down in the abyss of fears and doubts and literally "talk" ourselves with a standard set of excuses like: I have nowhere to go, nowhere to go, there are no funds for this, it is now impossible, I can not leave him/her/them, I need him/her/them, they/she/he will disappear without me, he/she/they will soon change...
The situation will never change if it is not changed. We need to realize this and take responsibility for everything that happens to us. And then there will come the determination to act, and with it opportunities that we didn't notice because of the same fears, countless excuses, and the search for reasons to do nothing and continue to remain in a victim state.
If it seems to you that at the moment you have absolutely no opportunity to distance yourself, to distance yourself from toxic people, start at least by minimizing the time you spend in places where you are forced to communicate with such people, do something new, find additional work, spend more time in the fresh air, visit libraries, which, by the way, still exist around the world and function almost for free, take care of yourself, finally.
Take at least something, at least some first step towards freedom from toxic relationships, and very soon you will discover new real opportunities for this, I promise you. The whole point is that when you switch your attention from chewing on the problem, complaining and blaming, which is essentially a search for reasons to do nothing, to looking for opportunities, these very opportunities will appear as if out of nowhere, just as excuses appeared before. Remember, those who search always find...
