Odessa national medical University. Monument to medical workers

Hello dear readers! Today a little tour of the alley and the street Valihovsky Olgievskoy in Odessa. Here is the main building of the famous Odessa national medical University (onmu). The doctor's profession is a human vocation. One of the most difficult and important professions in the world. To form the thinking of the physician, it takes a lot of work from the person and the duration of training.  According to the old style onmu was opened in 1900 on September 1. In the beginning there was a faculty at Novorossiysk University, and in modern onmu 12 academic buildings and 608 classrooms. The University has a large electronic and classical library, the Fund of which is more than 800 thousand books. The University provides hostels for nonresidents and foreigners, there are six of them. The dormitories can accommodate 3000 students.  106 doctors of Sciences, 410 candidates of medical Sciences are working on the preparation of future doctors. There are 20 honored academicians among the teaching staff. Close international cooperation in the scientific world has led to the fact that the University has 42 members of foreign academies. During the existence of the University, almost 75,000 doctors were trained. About 10,000 doctors are citizens of other countries.  Today the University has 6 faculties and 58 departments. The total number of students onmu about 6000 people. Of these, 1,400 are citizens of other States. The University cooperates with 52 countries. Languages of instruction-Ukrainian, Russian, English. Particular attention is paid to research and training of graduate students.  Recently, the University opened its own scientific and medical departments and diagnostic centers. Researches in the directions of molecular genetic and cellular medicine are carried out. Actively being developed a biophysical direction. On the street Olgiasca, 2 is the building where he worked 53 years well-known academician Vladimir Petrovich Filatov. On the house hangs a plaque with a portrait of the great doctor and hero of socialist labor. Now this building is the center of the microsurgical clinic of the University.  The learning process takes place according to the Bologna system. Independent assessment of knowledge and distance learning have long been implemented at the University.  What qualities should a modern doctor have? Selflessness, kindness, humanity, perseverance, courage, morality, attention, sensitivity, psychological stability, diligence, humanism, nobility and you can still list this list for a long time... Yet from Greece went tradition to swear an oath to Hippocrates ( Hippocratis jus-jurandum). This tradition has been preserved in our time. V. I. Rudnev translates the Hippocratic oath as follows: I swear by Apollo the physician, by Asclepius, by Hygiene and Panacea, and by all the gods and goddesses, taking them as witnesses, to perform honestly, according to my powers and my understanding, the following oath and written undertaking: to consider him who taught me the art of medicine on an equal footing with my parents, to share with him my.. I will direct the treatment of the sick to their advantage according to my powers and my understanding, refraining from inflicting any harm or injustice. I will not give anyone the deadly remedy they ask of me, nor will I show them the way for such a scheme... Pure and immaculate will I spend my life and my art. Whatever house I enter, I enter for the benefit of the sick, being far from all that is intentional, unrighteous, and pernicious...Whatever I have seen or heard concerning the life of men in the course of treatment, and also without treatment, which should never be divulged, I shall keep silent, regarding such things as a mystery. To me, who unbreakably fulfills the oath, may happiness in life and in art be given, and glory to all men for ever; to him that transgresseth, and to him that taketh a false oath, let the reverse be done. The main building of onmu has an updated this year student alley. In the depths of the alley there is a monument in honor of the dead medical workers, teachers, students during the great Patriotic war. On the alley held days of remembrance of the heroes of the second world war with a procession of students onmu.  Academician Valeriy Nikolaevich Zaporozhan holds the post of rector of onmu. Honored worker of science and technology, as well as laureate of the state prize of Ukraine.  Architectural group of buildings of the Academy are noteworthy for their beauty.
