Why people do not respect women?

Which people do people mean? Men have always respected women in all countries. But more recently in West Bengal as well as in India, there has been an increase in cases of girls being assaulted, humiliated and even raped. There are many reasons behind this. But the biggest reasons are:

1) Especially mothers of sons need to teach their children to respect girls from childhood, which they don't!

2) Discrimination between boys and girls needs to be stopped in the family. It creates a male chauvinism in boys from childhood.

3) Girls need to be given proper education and also to be physically and mentally strong.

4) Even if it sounds surprising, it is necessary to know where girls are given the same rights as boys when they read the scriptures. So in 'religious' countries like ours, uneducated or half-educated clerics cannot create religious and social obstacles by doing the opposite!

5) The biggest need for girls to be financially independent. This reduces the ability and opportunity for boys and other girls to disrespect a girl.

6) I have seen in our student life too that if there was a girlfriend, no one would have a nice conversation. Now listening to the conversation of a group of children on the street, it seems that no one is behind anyone in the competition of obscene words or hints!

7) Consumerism has made everything a commodity. There is no way to get rid of it!

8) A part of the police administration and other parts of the society have the same attitude towards girls. As a result, if they are disrespected, there is no benefit to them.

9) One of the reasons for this is the low presence of women in administration due to their aversion to politics.

10) Children grow up to follow a role model towards an ideal or goal. Now they don't have a goal in front of them (the paths to self-reliance are almost all closed!), and there is no ideal figure worth following in the society!

11) The emergence of a section of girls in the competition may also be a reason for this violent mentality.

12) If you disrespected a girl on the street, you had to face social disrespect before, and now you can become a 'Hero' to your friends! At least: that's the idea of watching recent Bengali movies!

However, writing 'Devi' next to girls' names has gone up in our generation. So today's girls are not expecting extra respect, they just want to live in the society with equal dignity.
