Rajshahi is one of the ancient and traditional City. It is a the largest city in North Bengal. The city of Rajshahi is located on of the river Padma. It is a city of Rajshahi division. Near the city Rajshahi are a several capital cities of ancient Bengal. Among them Lakshnauti or Lakshnavati, Mahasthangarh etc. are notable. Rajshahi is famous for its attractive silk mango litchi and confectionery. Rajshahi is called the city of silk because of its silk fabric. There are a significant number of educational institutions in the city of Rajshahi, many of which have spread beyond the borders of the country and abroad. Rajshahi city is also known as one of the educational cities of Bangladesh after Mymensingh for these renowned educational institutions. There are several famous and historical mosques, temples and shrines in and around Rajshahi city. The city is surrounded by two satellite towns at Naohata Katakhali.
