My Travel Experiecne

B
Introduction

Today was a hectic day on my end, a day filled with stress and the most awful journey I have yet to experience, so yesterday, I decided to return to school, My school is Located in Kaduna Zaria, whereas I reside in Lagos which the journey is about 746 Km, the journey is approximately 20 hours if the car moves at 80km/h at least. So that's how I started the journey at the early hour of the day I thought I should get to school at least by 10 pm if I had to leave home as early as 6:00 am

Morning Hour

I had to quickly bid farewell to my family after the morning prayer for journey mercy, then I got to the park as early as 6:00 am, I went to the Car park instead of Bus transportation, and the driver told me the journey had cost 17,000 NGN. then I paid for transport fare, we were three active passengers that are still available, then a few minutes later, the car got filled and we were set for the journey.

Getting to the park got me all smiling not knowing that I still have a terrible and long journey ahead, I was able to pick a seat in the front seat, then as soon as 6:30 am, the journey begin in a Sienna car.

The trouble Begins

We have been on the journey for about 5 hours now, a car of 7 passengers, inclusion the driver makes us eight, then little we got close to Akure, the car begins its troubles and it starts going off, the driver does not know what's wrong either, we all trying to stay calm as we knew that we have still have a long journey ahead of us, and this shouldn't be happening, he quickly parked and he tried sorting it out, he told us we are good to continue the journey then.

Everyone was happy, little did we go for more than one hour with no fault, then we got to Ekiti State, and that's when the real trouble began, the car no longer starts and everything stays stagnant, I was getting furious as we were in the middle of nowhere, and bad things always happen around that area, so we all got down, and pushed the car upfront close to where we were able to stay where people can see us.

The moment we all highlight the vehicle

The driver pulled a call through to his mechanic who is likely to know someone around the area, then about 30 minutes, the mechanic arrives trying to sort out something as well, he put a device called a machine to detect the fault, then he said his device detects no fault in the car, so in that case, he has no idea of what to fix either to make the car continues, everyone was already losing hope of the car moving again.

The mechanic was inside trying to make some adjustments to the wiring

Later we got to know that it isn't a mechanic's job to what's happening to the car, he says it is a rewiring problem, and for this case, we are going to need a rewire instead of a mechanic. Now, we are on this for more than 3 hours, and the time is moving fast, and everyone is still furious knowing that they've got a long way to go.

Passengers seeking for another vehicle

Most of the passengers are already losing hope, as some already are looking for another vehicle to take them back home to continue the journey for another day, this is already assured that we can not get to Kaduna today any longer as it is already 2:00 p.m and we haven't even got a fraction of the journey yet.

Eventually

The driver pleaded with the passengers and had a rewire to fix the vehicle later on, then, to everyone's surprise, the car got started and the rewire assured us of a safe journey henceforth, in his statement, he said he had to bypass some of the wirings for now to at least take us to Abuja, then maybe the next day, we could move on to Kaduna next.

The Journey Continues

After moving for hours without any fault, then we were finally at rest and the car is moving as fast as it can, we take no time to pass most of the cities, and we were heading straight up to Lokoja, by 6:00p.m, we had a stopover at Lokoja where we all refreshed our stomachs, I had just drinks and some doughnuts for refreshment, then we were heading towards Abuja next.

One thing I got to learn was that the car is no longer moving as fast as before, as we are now moving at 40km/h on a road that's supposed to be at least 80km/h, it's night already and the driver is moving slow, everyone gots to notice this and starts being unpleasant with the journey as we already had wasted too many time fixing this, and now again the car can no longer move as fast as it is supposed to.

This is indeed a terrible journey for me, the driver complain that if he speed too much, the car might stop working as the wiring was not as intact, so he pleaded that we just have to be patient with him as he was not happy with the situation, I checked my google map to confirm how many minutes left to Abuja where I plan to stay for the night, and it shows I have still got 44 min left to the location, this is almost 11; 00 pm and things get scary on the road mostly at night.

Safe Landing

It was indeed a fearful journey, we continued for another hour before we got to Abuja by 12; 00 am, where I highlighted at Giri Junction where my cousin stayed, I quickly settled in his apartment. he then prepped a dinner meal for me and afterward, I had a warm shower and sleep the night off as it is already a stressful journey.

Conclusion

That was indeed one of the most stressful journeys I have ever been on, I left home as early so I could get to my destination quickly, but it happens God has a different plan for me, I got to Abuja by midnight, and the next day, I was able to continue my journey to Kaduna by seeking another car.

I have learned that no matter what, one should always be patient, most of the passengers has already given up on the journey and were ready to return home, but through the driver's patience, the car was able to get fixed and we were able to continue with the journey, though it is not as interesting as we had thought, at least we were able to arrive at Journey mercy.
