Another Bengali Nobel Prize in Economics - Abhijit Banerjee, a student at South Point School and Presidency College in Kolkata, got the Nobel Prize in Economics this year for applying scientific research to poverty reduction. He is a student at Jawaharlal University in Delhi, and is currently associated with a renowned educational institute called MIT in the United States. Abhijeet's wife Esther Duffalo also received this huge award. Harvard University's Michael Kremer received the award together. In this dark day of anti-science and superstition, Abhijeet is proud of us as a Bengali. Let us congratulate him and his wife Esther.
