As reported by CNN, Tuesday (15/9/2020), Thousands of people in North Carolina, United States (US), suddenly received text messages and emails stating they were positive for the Corona virus (COVID-19).
Why could this happen?
Thousands of surprising messages were sent by a data vendor named Health Space in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, incorrectly. The people who get the message are not really positive for Coronavirus.
Diorio emphasized that the local Health Department never sent a short message or email to inform the individual concerned about positive or negative results of Corona.
Mecklenburg County Manager, Dena Diorio said that there had been an 'error' or an error during 'routine maintenance' on Friday (11/9) last week. There are 6,727 short messages and 541 emails sent to individuals who are members of the Health Space vendor system. To resolve the situation that has occurred, the Mecklenburg County authorities together with Health Space then contact one by one the people who receive the wrong information and ask them to ignore the message.
In sending an email message to the regional commissioners board, on Monday (14/9) local time, Diorio stated that no personal information was disturbed in the incident. It took Health Space less than an hour to fix the problem.
