At a time when authorities announced a record 74 deaths in the past 24 hours, the government on Monday tightened travel restrictions calling for negative tests for most people wishing to enter the country. 

 

Health Minister Vili Beros also recently tested positive for the virus, but said on Monday he would resume work.

 

Currently all hospitals in Croatia are struggling with a surge in patients, limited beds and equipment and a shortage of staff, as more than 1,000 doctors alone have been infected.

 

According to statistics by John Hopkins University. Croatia has now recorded 128,442 coronavirus cases and 1,786 deaths.
