Mohamed Salah becomes the fastest hat-trick scorer in the UEFA Champions League after netting 3 crucial goals for Liverpool in their 7-1 victory over Rangers on Wednesday. The Egyptian forward has now put his name in record book besting Robert Lewandowski’s record for the fastest hat-trick in the competition.

With Bayern Munich in 2021/22, Lewandowski scored the fastest hat-trick in the Champions League. The Polish striker completed a hat-trick in the first 23 minutes of a knockout-stage match against RB Salzburg, marking the fastest hat-trick ever scored by any player in the competition. He broke the record held by Marco Simone of AC Milan, who netted his own hat-trick in 24 minutes of a Champions League game against Norwegian side Rosenberg in 1996.

Mohamed Salah went on to score the fastest Champions League hat-trick after his 6 minutes and 12 seconds hat-trick against Rangers dropped Lewandowski from the top. While, nobody has beat that number, Salah carved out a piece of history for himself - coming off the bench to help Liverpool beat Rangers 7-1 in the 2022/23 Champions League group stage.
