 Today we have arranged this post about the lineage of Hazrat Umar (R), the second caliph of Islam and his conversion to Islam. Welcome everyone to this post.

 Genealogy: -

 The second caliph of Islam, Hazrat Umar (ra) was born in 563 AD in the famous tribe of Addi of the Quraish dynasty. After birth, his parents used to call him 'Hafs'. The real name of this Hafs is Umar. And 'Farooq' is his adjective. The name of the father of Hazrat Umar (ra) was Khattab. He was a famous man of Quraish dynasty. Hazrat Umar's mother's name was Hantama. She was the daughter of Hisam Ibn Mughira. These Mugis were a well-known general.

 

 Hazrat Umar (ra) was well advanced in education and initiation. He was very good at writing poetry and he was unique in wrestling. Hazrat Umar (ra) had immense erudition and skill in the knowledge of Qur'an and Hadith. He also had no equal in fiqh knowledge at that time.

 

 

 InshaAllah, I will present a few sections on conversion to Islam, service of Islam, election of caliph, good governance of Umar (RA), unpretentious life, good character of Hazrat Umar (RA), martyrdom and burial.

 

 Conversion to Islam

 

 When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) spoke of Islam, the One God, the disbelieving Quraish reacted very disgustingly. When he asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) to give up idolatry, the polytheists became furious and started negotiating for various conspiracies. His Prophet (peace be upon him) was subjected to various kinds of oppression and tyranny. At one point they even announced to kill the Prophet. They also announced a reward for this, but no one dared to show the courage to kill the infidel Prophet (peace be upon him).

 

 However, Hazrat Umar (ra) agreed to it. He drew his sword and ran to kill the Prophet but an incident happened on the way. He met a man named Naeem or Abu Saeed.

 

 The man asked,

 

 Where is Umar going?

 

 Hazrat Umar replied angrily,

 

 I am going to kill Muhammad (peace be upon him).

 

 The man said,

 

 Can you keep up with the news? There is nothing you can do about your own sister and brother-in-law who have become Muslims, while you will kill Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH)?

 

 Upon hearing this, Hazrat Umar (ra) became even more angry with the insult. Then he changed his pace and ran to his sister's house. As soon as he entered his sister's house, he started beating his brother-in-law. The sister actually hit him too. Her sister and brother-in-law were injured in the beating and blood was flowing from their bodies. Seeing that, Umar felt pity in his heart.

 

 Hazrat Umar (ra) then asked, what are you reading now? The sister of Hazrat Umar (R) replied, I was reading the Holy Quran. Hazrat Umar (ra) said, show me that. Then the sister said, you are unclean now. Therefore, the Qur'an cannot be touched with unclean hands. Upon hearing this, Hazrat Umar (ra) became pure. He recited the verses of Surah Taha and Hadith of the Holy Quran.

 

 The word of Almighty Allah caused a great commotion in his mind. That's how he became then. Hazrat Umar (R) said, where is the Prophet? I will go to him, I will be a Muslim now. Then he went to the beloved Prophet and accepted Islam.

 

 After accepting Islam, Hazrat Umar (R) announced to offer prayers in front of Kaaba Sharif. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) was pleased with Umar (peace be upon him) and gave him the title, 'Farooq'. Which means, the difference between truth and falsehood
