“Disadvantages of winter days”
Disadvantages of winter days
Winter season is a special time of nature. Foggy mornings, cold air, the comfort of warm clothes—all these are enjoyable for many. However, behind this beauty of winter, there are various difficulties and hardships hidden, which have a negative impact on people's daily life, health, economy and social system. Winter becomes a difficult time especially for the poor, children, elderly and sick people. Below are discussed in detail the various difficulties of winter days.
1. Health problems
The biggest difficulties seen in winter days are in the health sector. During this time, the incidence of cold-related diseases such as cold, cough, fever, pneumonia, asthma and bronchitis increases. Cold air causes problems in the respiratory tract, as a result of which children and the elderly are more affected. In addition, the body's immunity decreases slightly during winter, due to which even common diseases can take a complex form.
In winter, the skin becomes dry and cracked, lips are cracked, hands and feet itch and eczema appear. Many people do not drink enough water due to cold, as a result, dehydration develops in the body - which gives rise to various other diseases.
2. The suffering of poor people
The biggest victims of winter are the poor and uprooted people. For those who do not have enough warm clothes, winter is a cruel reality. People sleeping on the sidewalk, beggars, daily laborers or slum dwellers suffer greatly during winter nights. In many cases, their lives are endangered due to lack of treatment due to cold-related diseases.
Many poor people in rural areas live in open houses or tin houses, where it is difficult to protect themselves from the cold. As a result, winter is not only uncomfortable for them, but can also be life-threatening.
3. Disruptions to daily life
Winter disrupts people's normal lives. It is difficult to wake up in the morning, and they are reluctant to work. Students do not want to go to school in the morning, and attendance in many cases decreases. Office-going people also start work late in the winter morning, which can reduce their efficiency.
Due to fog, roads become slippery and unclear, which disrupts travel. Bus, train and boat movements are disrupted, making it difficult to reach their destinations on time.
4. Problems in the agricultural sector
Winter also creates various difficulties in the agricultural sector. Many crops are damaged due to excessive cold and fog. Especially the production of vegetables, potatoes and some grains is disrupted. Due to fog, the normal growth of crops is hampered due to less sunlight.
In addition, during winter, workers are reluctant to work in the fields, resulting in a slowdown in agricultural work. This causes financial losses to farmers.
5. Problems with transportation and communication systems
Dense fog during winter causes major problems with communication systems. The rate of road accidents increases, as visibility is reduced due to fog. Many times, air travel is stopped or delayed, and train and launch operations are also disrupted.
This situation also has a negative impact on business and emergency services. Patient transport, delivery of goods, and official work are delayed.
6. Risks for children and the elderly
Winter days are particularly risky for children and the elderly. Children's bodies cannot tolerate cold, so they fall ill easily. On the other hand, since the elderly have low immunity, winter-related diseases can be fatal for them.
In many cases, it is seen that the elderly cannot tolerate the cold on winter nights and become seriously ill, and even die.
7. Mental and social effects
A kind of laziness and depression is seen among people during winter days. Due to less daylight and cold, people spend more time indoors, which reduces social contact. Many people feel lonely and depressed.
Especially for those who work outdoors, winter causes mental stress. Attention and enthusiasm decrease due to unfavorable work environment.
8. Fuel and cost pressure
To stay warm during winter, it is necessary to use extra clothes, blankets, heaters or light fires. This increases fuel and electricity costs. This extra cost often becomes a source of stress for poor and middle-class families.
In rural areas, many people try to stay warm by burning wood or straw, which can also cause environmental pollution.
Finally, it can be said that as comfortable and beautiful as the winter season seems, in reality it is not without its disadvantages. Health risks, suffering of the poor, problems with agriculture and communication systems - all of these make winter days miserable for many. Therefore, we need to be aware of the harmful aspects of winter. It is essential to distribute warm clothes to the poor, strengthen healthcare, and ensure safe transportation. Only then will it be possible to alleviate the hardships of winter days to some extent.
