Parents are the greatest gift for children in the world. In exchange for their sacrifice, hard work and tireless labor, children are brought up, grow up and stand as good citizens in society. Therefore, serving parents is one of the main duties of children. Not only from a social and moral point of view, but also from a religious point of view, fulfilling duties towards parents is an obligatory or essential task for children.

Parents' sacrifice and role

Parents are always dedicated to fulfilling every need of a child since his birth. The mother endures the pain of pregnancy for the sake of the child, risks her life at the time of birth and brings the child into the world, then breastfeeds and raises it. On the other hand, the father works hard and bears the expenses of the family, builds the education and future of the child. This sacrifice cannot be compared to any other relationship in the world.

Religious perspective

In Islam, the rights or rights of parents are very serious. Allah Almighty has commanded to serve parents in many places in the Quran. For example:

“Do not associate anyone with Allah and be kind to parents.” (Surah An-Nisa: 36)

It is also mentioned in the Hadith that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “The pleasure of parents is the pleasure of Allah, and the displeasure of parents is the displeasure of Allah.”

On the other hand, almost all religions, including Hinduism, Christianity and Buddhism, emphasize on serving and respecting parents.

Social aspect

Serving parents is not only religious, but also essential in social life. Children who respect their parents experience peace, harmony and happiness in their families. On the other hand, those who neglect their parents experience unrest and hardship in their lives. If every child in society serves their parents properly, then family ties will be strong and order will be established in the society.

Moral Aspect

Serving parents is also essential for children from a moral perspective. Because they are our life givers. Just as we want our children to respect us in the future, it is our duty to serve our parents today.

Ways to serve parents

1. Showing respect – maintaining politeness while talking to them.

2. Financial support – helping them with their medical treatment and lifestyle in old age.

3. Physical service – providing care and attention when they are sick.

4. Providing mental peace – not causing them pain and sorrow.

5. Praying – praying regularly for their good health and forgiveness.

Parents are a unique blessing for children. Serving them is not only a duty, but it also makes our lives beautiful and prosperous. Children who serve their parents receive the blessings of Allah and are respected in society. Therefore, every child should love, respect and serve their parents at every moment of their life.
