Approximately 300,000 people were displaced as a result of the earthquake in Syria and Turkey.
LEBANON - In an apparent allusion to the areas of Syria under government control, not those held by opposing forces, Syrian state media stated last week's fatal earthquake had caused more than 298,000 people to abandon their homes.

Hussein Makhlouf, minister of local administration and the environment, was reported by official news agency SANA as adding that the state has also created 180 shelters for displaced persons.
