At least 43 hurt after Russian attack on small Ukrainian town

Residents of Pervomaiskyi in the northeast express horror at the events as twelve kids, including two infants, are among the injured.

According to Ukrainian officials, a Russian strike on the tiny hamlet of Pervomaiskyi in the northeastern Kharkiv area resulted in at least 43 injuries, including 12 children.

Television video showed a tall apartment complex emitting black smoke as neighbouring automobiles were on fire, and Andriy Yermak, the head of Kyiv's presidential office, uploaded pictures from the town of burned-out and wrecked vehicles.

Oleh Syniehubov, the regional governor, reported that the attack took place on Tuesday at around 1:35 p.m. Kyiv time (10:35 p.m. GMT).

About 28,000 people live in Pervomaiskyi, which is a good distance from the front lines.

Local resident Alla stated, "I only remember that when the explosion sounded, we were thrown up into the air," as she held her granddaughter on the street. "As we walked farther, we noticed many broken windows and several burning automobiles. I simply can't control myself; my legs are still trembling.

The youngest injured person, according to Syniehubov, was a three-month-old infant. The condition of the infant wasn't immediately apparent. Another infant suffered harm. They were two of several who were transported to the hospital.

A military burial was reportedly taking place in the town at the time of the attack, according to some.

About 100 people attended Oleh Fadeenko's funeral, according to Major Maksym Zhorin, a former commander of the Azov battalion, a combat unit that is now a part of the Ukrainian army. Oleh Fadeenko, a soldier with the call sign Baby, was reportedly killed in fighting near Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine.

On the Telegram chat platform, Zhorin stated that "they targeted the location where the ceremony was taking place."

Russia did not respond to the attack's first questions.
