According to analytics platform Arkham, the U.S. government holds 212,847 BTC worth about $14.7 billion in its treasury wallets. This makes the US first among other countries in the world. The size of U.S. reserves increased by at least 5,000 BTC in early 2023 when the balance of treasury wallets was replenished with coins seized from criminals.

In addition to bitcoin, U.S. authorities have collected a significant amount of other digital currencies, including Ethereum and the USDC and USDT stablecoins, with a combined value of nearly $200 million.
In second place is the UK government, which has $4.2 billion on its balance sheet. The German government holds about $3.4 billion worth of BTC. However, according to Arkham data, the UK and Germany have no significant assets in other digital coins.
In El Salvador, where bitcoin is recognized as legal tender, the BTC balance does not exceed 5,717 coins, which are valued at about $400 million. However, unlike other countries, every day the balance is replenished by one coin.
