Golden rays of sunlight were spread across the rooftops. There was a slight chill in the air. Birds in nearby trees were returning to their nests. Just then, a monkey landed on the roof of a house. He looked around for a while, as if searching for something. After a few moments, his eyes fell upon a water container placed in a corner of the roof. He was likely very thirsty from the heat and his long leaps. He slowly approached it and peered inside. His eyes lit up when he saw the water. However, the way he drank the water was surprising.

Instead of dipping his mouth directly into the water, the monkey first dipped his hand in. He scooped some water into his palm, brought it to his mouth, and drank. Then, he dipped his hand in again and drank from his palm. Each time, he gathered the water very carefully so that none would spill. A few moments later, he changed his method. He grabbed the rim of the bucket, pulled it slightly towards himself, and leaned down to try and drink. But the bucket was deep, so his mouth couldn't quite reach the water. So, he went back to using his palm.

Two children sitting on a nearby roof were watching him quietly, amazed by his unique method. Laughing, they remarked to each other that the monkey was drinking water just like a human. The monkey sensed the children's presence but paid them little heed; at that moment, water was the most important thing to him. After a while, his thirst was quenched. He dipped his hand into the bucket one last time, drank the remaining few drops, and then went to sit at the edge of the roof. He shook his body and looked up at the sky. It seemed as though he was very satisfied with his little effort.

This incident taught the children an important lesson: even wild animals know how to adapt their methods according to the situation. The monkey had found its own unique way of drinking water. Although its method differed from that of humans, it clearly demonstrated intelligence and caution. Suddenly, the monkey leapt from the parapet and perched on a branch of a nearby tree. In the blink of an eye, it vanished among the trees. All that remained on the roof was the memory of the water and that unique incident.
