ANKARA (D پوائنٹHA) - Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has telephoned his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to call for a ceasefire in Ukraine. It has been 11 days and in the meantime the leaders of many countries are trying to persuade the parties for a ceasefire. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has also telephoned the Russian president.
A statement issued by the Turkish Presidential Information Department said that President Erdoانan's talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin focused on the attacks on Ukraine and Turkish-Russian relations. During the talks, President Tayyip Erdogan stressed the need for a peaceful solution to the Ukraine conflict and offered all possible assistance to President Putin in this regard. He said a ceasefire was essential for the elimination of fears of a humanitarian crisis and for a political and diplomatic solution to the conflict.
A statement issued by the Presidential Palace said that Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan is in constant touch with Ukraine and other countries and is working for a comprehensive negotiated solution between the two sides.
