Former U.S. President Donald Trump criticized current U.S. leader Joe Biden's plan to complete his withdrawal from Afghanistan by Sept. 11.
"I would really hate to see Joe Biden use 9/11 as the date to withdraw our troops from Afghanistan," Trump said in a statement.
The former president outlined two reasons why the date chosen is not appropriate for the withdrawal of U.S. troops. First, "it can and should be done sooner," he noted. Trump said in a statement that as U.S. president, he ensured a faster withdrawal by reducing the contingent stationed in Afghanistan from 16,000 to less than 2,000 and by withdrawing "billions of dollars worth of American equipment" from the country.
