I recently read in an essay (from an author I highly respect) that “Victory Day is getting further and further from us, and there are more and more rosy-cheeked “veterans”.”
It suddenly hit me. I walked and thought.
On the one hand, everything seems to be true.
counting “children of regiments” and teenage partisans, children of the war years could not previously be considered “veterans”.
But is this right?
As a child, I had a favorite book.
Our Ural author I. Likstanov "Baby".
About children who worked in military factories during the war. For this he was awarded the Stalin Prize.
And rightfully so.
Anyone who has read will understand me.
If you haven't read it, I recommend it.
Honestly, you won't regret it.
A story beyond age.
Wonderful, easy language (the authors of "Serey" can learn a thing or two).
Plot, intrigue.
And most importantly, a “quiet feat”.
The way it should be. A natural state of mind, an impulse."
Garlic", without pathos.
During the war years (from the age of 7) my father worked as a collective farm shepherd.
He was 86 when he passed away. Cancer..
He did not fit into the “war veterans” category due to his age.
He doesn't need it.
There are already few holders of the Order of Lenin.
And my beloved “Aunt Tonka” (great-aunt of my late wife, but a very close person to me), also essentially “not a veteran,” lived to be almost 90 years old
Gatherings at Aunt Tony's (standing) in honor of the arrival of relatives from Novokuibyshevsk. As always, on her feet, cheerful and cheerful, and a drink is “not a miss”
In general, I am amazed at the generation of “children of war”.
They seem to be “made” of a different material.
Made from particularly durable "Tempered" material.
During the war, she worked in the timber industry.
A forest was being felled. A teenage girl.
Because all the men were at the front.
In the 90s, Nikalaich was involved in staffing logging crews for Tyumen North.
He knows how much it costs, how hard this work is even for hefty men. And he believes that everyone who worked in the rear (even in childhood) has every right to be called “veterans of the Great Patriotic War.”
Thanks to them. They left. Everything. And the Earth is empty. Without them.
