Elections play an important role in the development of a country. If a qualified candidate is elected through elections, then the country develops, and if an unqualified candidate is elected, then the country develops. That ineligible candidate is trying to rob himself. Eligible candidates always think about the country, think about the people of the country. And unqualified candidates only think about themselves. Trying to do corruption everywhere.

Most of the time qualified candidates are elected, but qualified candidates are elected only if votes are not stolen and there are no untoward incidents. And if votes are stolen, or majority of fake votes are cast, or malfeasance is done then only ineligible candidates are elected.

People benefit when qualified candidates are elected. If the elected candidate is honest, the people benefit from him, the people can present their concerns to him and the qualified elected candidate listens to the people and tries to benefit the people. But if incompetent candidates are elected then people will suffer a lot. That incompetent candidate never listens to the people, if anyone approaches him he has to bribe first, then he listens.

Voting is the civil right of all of us, and the vote of each of us belongs to all of us. Vote for the eligible candidates at the correct election time. Ineligible candidates try to buy votes with money. Remember if you sell your vote to someone you need to buy it from them. For this, while voting, you must see the eligible candidates and vote.

We have various elections in Bangladesh, Gazipur City Corporation election was held yesterday. There were a total of eight mayoral candidates in this election, out of these eight, Zayda Khatun was elected as the mayor. He was an independent candidate, his brand was watches. Bangladesh government party candidate was Azmat Ullah Khan, he contested on boat brand.

Zayeda Khatun won the Gazipur City Corporation election yesterday after a hard-fought battle, the election results were announced at midnight. There were 480 polling stations in Gazipur City Corporation. From all these centers Zayeda Khatun got 2 lakh 38 thousand 934 votes and won, while Azmat Ullah Khan came second with 2 lakh 22 thousand 737 votes.

It should be noted that Zayda Khatun is the mother of Jahangir Alam, the former mayor of Gazipur City Corporation. This year, Jahangir Alam wanted to run for the post of mayor but could not be a candidate for various reasons. Later, her mother became an independent candidate in the election and won.

Gazipur City Corporation elected a woman mayor for the first time this year. And Gazipur held elections through AVM for the first time this year. AVM is the digital version of elections, voting is done through a machine. After the win, the fans cheered.

একটা দেশের উন্নয়নের জন্য নির্বাচন গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করে। নির্বাচনের মাধ্যমে যদি যোগ্য প্রার্থী নির্বাচিত হয় তাহলে ঐ দেশের উন্নয়ন হয়, আর যদি অযোগ্য প্রার্থী নির্বাচিত হয় তাহলে ঐ দেশের উন্নয়ন হয়। সেই অযোগ্য প্রার্থী নিজে লুটে খাওয়ার চেষ্টা। যোগ্য প্রার্থীরা সব সময়ই দেশের কথা ভাবে, দেশের মানুষের কথা ভাবে। আর অযোগ্য প্রার্থীরা শুধু নিজের কথা ভাবে। সব জায়গাতেই দূর্নীতি করার চেষ্টা করে।

অধিকাংশ সময় নির্বাচনে যোগ্য প্রার্থীরা নির্বাচিত হয়, কিন্তু নির্বাচনে যদি ভোট চুরি না হয়, এবং কোন অপ্রীতিকর ঘটনা না ঘটে তাহলেই যোগ্য প্রার্থী নির্বাচিত হয়। আর যদি ভোট চুরি হয়, বা অধিকাংশ নকল ভোট দেওয়া হয়, অথবা অপ্রীতিকর ঘটনা ঘটানো হয় তাহলেই কেবল অযোগ্য প্রার্থীরা নির্বাচিত হয়।

যখন যোগ্য প্রার্থী নির্বাচিত হয় তখন জনগণের উপকার হয়। নির্বাচিত প্রার্থী সৎ হলে জনগণ তার কাছে থেকে উপকৃত হয়, জনগণের নিজেদের আবদার তার কাছে পেশ করতে পারে এবং সেই যোগ্য নির্বাচিত প্রার্থী জনগণের কথা শোনে এবং জনগণের উপকার করার চেষ্টা করে। কিন্তু যদি অযোগ্য প্রার্থী নির্বাচিত হয় তাহলে জনগণের অনেক ক্ষতি হয়ে যায়। সেই অযোগ্য প্রার্থী কখনও জনগণের কথা শোনে না, তার কাছে কেউ গেলে আগে তাকে ঘুষ দিতে হয়, তারপর সে কথা শোনে।

ভোট আমাদের সকলের নাগরিক অধিকার, এবং আমাদের প্রত্যেকের ভোট আমাদের সকলের কাছে আমানত। নির্বাচনের সময় সঠিক দেখে যোগ্য প্রার্থীকে ভোট দিতে হবে। অযোগ্য প্রার্থীরা টাকা দিয়ে ভোট ক্রয় করা চেষ্টা করে। মনে রাখতে হবে আপনি যদি কারো কাছে আপনার ভোট বিক্রি করেন তাহলে আপনার প্রয়োজন তার থেকে কিনে আনতে হবে। এই জন্য ভোট দেওয়ার সময় অবশ্যই যোগ্য প্রার্থী দেখে ভোট দিতে হবে।

আমাদের বাংলাদেশে বিভিন্ন রকম নির্বাচন হয়ে থাকে, গতকাল গাজীপুর সিটি কর্পোরেশন নির্বাচন অনুষ্ঠিত হয়ে গেল। এই নির্বাচনে মেয়র প্রার্থী ছিলেন মোট আটজন, এই আটজনের মধ্যে জায়েদা খাতুন মেয়র হিসেবে নির্বাচিত হয়েছেন। তিনি স্বতন্ত্র প্রার্থী ছিলেন, তার মার্কা ছিল ঘড়ি। বাংলাদেশ সরকার দলের প্রার্থী ছিলেন আজমত উল্লাহ খান, তিনি নৌকা মার্কা নিয়ে প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতা করেছেন।

গতকাল গাজীপুর সিটি কর্পোরেশন নির্বাচনে হাড্ডাহাড্ডি লড়াইয়ের পর জায়েদা খাতুন জয়লাভ করেন, মধ্যরাতে নির্বাচনের ফলাফল ঘোষনা করা হয়। গাজীপুর সিটি কর্পোরেশনে মোট ভোট কেন্দ্রে ছিল ৪৮০ টি। এই সবগুলো কেন্দ্র থেকে জায়েদা খাতুন পেয়েছেন ২ লাখ ৩৮ হাজার ৯৩৪ ভোট পেয়ে জয়লাভ করেন, আর আজমত উল্লাহ খান ২ লাখ ২২ হাজার ৭৩৭ ভোট পেয়ে দ্বিতীয় হয়।

উল্লেখ্য জায়েদা খাতুন হচ্ছেন গাজীপুর সিটি কর্পোরেশনের সাবেক মেয়র জাহাঙ্গীর আলমের মা, এই বছর জাহাঙ্গীর আলম মেয়র পদে নির্বাচন করতে চেয়েছিলেন কিন্তু বিভিন্ন কারণে নির্বাচনে প্রার্থী হতে পারেন নাই, পরবর্তিতে তার মা নির্বাচনে স্বতন্ত্র প্রার্থী হন এবং জয়লাভ করেন।

গাজীপুর সিটি কর্পোরেশনে এই বছর প্রথম কোন মহিলা মেয়র হিসেবে নির্বাচিত হলেন। এবং গাজীপুর এই বছর প্রথম এভিএম এর মাধ্যমে নির্বাচন অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। এভিএম হচ্ছে নির্বাচনের ডিজিটাল ভার্সন, একটা মেশিনের মাধ্যমে ভোট দেওয়া হয়। জয়লাভ করার পর ঘড়ির সমর্থকেরা আনন্দ উল্লাস করতে থাকে।
