Flowers are a symbol of love. To enhance the beauty of all the earth, flowers are a divine gift given by the Creator.Almost all the countries of the world have given special status to flowers. All countries have different national flowers. Bangladesh is no exception. Water lily is the national flower of Bangladesh.

 

Something about our national flower

The water lily is basically a lotus flower. It is an aquatic flower. In the rainy season, this flower can be seen floating in the water in every part of Bangladesh. This flower blossoming scene in the morning easily fascinates any person.  This flower blooms on top of a wire or rope-like part.This flower stalk has many petals. In the middle of the stalk are yellow pollen grains, pollen and hairs. 

 

The water lily's stem is very soft in shape. This bar is never seen on water. It stays under water all the time. As the rainwater recedes, the entire plant merges with the soil. Again when the water starts coming it starts to rise along with the water.  There are three types of water lilies in our country.

White, blue and red. However, the white water lily is our national flower. It blooms in the rainy season and enhances the natural beauty of our country.

Water Lily as food.

It can be eaten empty by spreading fiber from the lower part of the flower, the rope-like part.  Many people eat it in small pieces and mix it with chilli powder, tamarind and salt and molasses.

Of course I have also eaten this type of food many times and it feels very good to eat.  Again, it can be cooked and eaten with curry. It is very tasty to fry the standing part of water lily with mustard.A few days ago my father collected them and my mother cooked curry with them. Which is very tasty to eat.
