As water continues to wreak havoc on citizens, drivers, and passengers in Ebonyi State as well as other states like Anambra State, Lokoja, which is in Kogi State, etc., farmers, locals, and business owners in my area have continued to suffer losses as a result of the natural disaster.
The horrific catastrophes brought on by natural disasters have caused enormous suffering in many villages along the banks of the Rivers Niger and Benue. Two of the towns where I am residing in the state of Ebonyi currently have a sizable section of their land underwater, which happened just last week. The two settlements that experienced flooding were Ezzi and Ikwo.
The floods have caused local villagers to lose their houses, crops, livelihoods, and sometimes even their lives.
In Ezzi local government houses were almost submerged, while residents in the afflicted portion of the village fled, taking refuge in school facilities in the upland area of their different communities. In my area, the flood does indeed inflict a lot of harm to the impacted Community.
Thank God, no lives were lost when two boats in Ikwo had an accident on the same day last Friday.
One of the boats overturned while carrying 8 passengers, while the other capsized due to the commotion created when the water situation grew too serious.
