The latest update of the international ranking finally keeps the world and American champion at the top. Second? France.

The FIFA Ranking is important today. Since 2014, the top soccer team decided to use the classification as a criterion to define the seedings and the formation of the other places in the World Cup draw.

For this reason, in 2018 the formula to determine the positions was changed to a system called SUMA: it is an algorithm that no longer considers the average points of the last four years, but rather adds or subtracts points from each selected player according to the result achieved in each match, based on a mathematical equation that takes into account the result of the match, the type of competition and the difference in placement in the ranking with respect to its rival.

After the last window of international matches in 2023, there were no changes at the top: Argentina remained in first place and France remains second. Meanwhile, on the last step of the podium, England now appears, displacing a Brazil that fell to fifth place due to its strong sporting crisis.

As for the rest of the big news, the great growth of Uruguay stands out, which thanks to the historic start of the Qualifiers under the command of Marcelo Bielsa, rose four places and finished 11th, on the verge of returning to the Top 10.
