The third day of the European Championship saw the Netherlands beat Poland 2-1 and England win by the narrowest of margins against Serbia, while Slovenia and Denmark recorded the first draw of the European Championship.

These victories were more demanding than those recorded in the two previous matches, which gives an idea of the caution that the coaches of each team are adopting as the tournament progresses.

Below are the details of each match and the complete analysis of each one.

Weghorst gave the Netherlands victory over Poland in their European Championship debut.

Poland had illusions throughout the match but the last smile was for the Netherlands, in their debut at Euro 2024. Koeman's side overcame an early deficit to claim a hard-fought 2-1 victory in the final minutes with a goal from Wout Weghorst, in his first action after coming on.

Irregular during their debut in the European Championship, against the combative Poland, the Netherlands team won a narrow victory thanks to the appearances of Nathan Aké, assistant in the two goals of Cody Gakpo and Wout Weghorst, who were enough to overcome the initial goal of Adam Buksa, which complicated the existence of the 'oranje' team.

The Netherlands picked up the baton from the teams that should go far at the European Championship and took to the pitch of the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg with the aim of presenting their candidacy for the title. Ronald Koeman's men, with only the absence of Frenkie de Jong this week, were eager to get off to a winning start against a team with many problems.

The main one, the absence of Robert Lewandowski, with muscular problems from the last friendly match in Poland. Without the Barcelona striker, coach Michal Probierz surprised with the presence of Adam Buksa, a giant of 1.93 centimeters loaned by Lens in the Turkish Antalyaspor and formed in the New England of the United States. Buksa rose above Denzel Dumfries, did a textbook header neck roll and sent the ball into the net.

At this point, the Netherlands were almost completely in control. Joey Veerman, the replacement for Frenkie de Jong, was a good rudder. Up front, Memphis Depay was making his presence felt, and Cody Gakpo was proving to be a real handful for Przemyslaw Frankowski on the left flank. Time and time again, the Liverpool player was determined to make it clear that wingers are in vogue at the European Championship after the displays of Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala and Yamine Lamal's fine game.

Gakpo was the first to come close to scoring after just two minutes, but he was denied by a good hand from Wojciech Szczesny, who held his teammates for half an hour. He also pulled off a superb save from Virgil van Dijk's volley and was saved from picking the ball out of the net because Xavi Simons and Tijani Reijners failed to sharpen their shooting.

However, Szczesny was unable to prevent Gakpo's equalizer, with Bartosz Salamon deflecting his shot from outside the area to throw the Juventus goalkeeper off his line. Aké, who stole the ball to set up his teammate, was also on hand to assist his teammate.

Gakpo's goal did not unsettle Poland, who at times managed to dominate the situation to push forward and put fear into the Netherlands. In fact, Kiwior was encouraged by a run up the left that ended with a left-footed shot that Verbruggen narrowly saved. Even Zielinski, who was undoubtedly the most inspired player of the Polish team along with Buksa, could have put his teammates ahead, but Verbruggen again prevented another goal with less than half an hour left to play. Koeman responded by bringing on Veerman and Simons and bringing on Donyell Malen and Georginio Wijnaldum.

The two coaches seemed to be playing chess with partial victories for each. And Koeman's final moves turned the game on its head.

The Netherlands went for the second goal. During the last stretch, they lived in Poland's half of the pitch, which definitely pulled back to hold on for the equalizer. The siege began and the chances started to come.

Van Dijk, with a header, Dumfries too, with a cross and another that Szczesny saved with his feet; and finally, with seven minutes to go, Wout Weghorst, who had just entered the field, took advantage of another assist from Aké to give the Netherlands the victory.

His goal brought relief to Koeman's side, who still saw their victory in jeopardy when Swiderski's last-ditch effort was narrowly saved by Verbruggen.

It was the last scourge for Probierz's side, who put up a courageous fight against the Netherlands, who finally won their first match thanks to Aké's appearances and strikes from Gakpo and Weghorst.

Slovenia and Denmark played out the first draw of the European Championships.

Slovenia recovered from an early deficit against Denmark thanks to Christian Eriksen's emotional goal to salvage a 1-1 draw in the two sides' Euro 2024 opener. Erik Janža's equalizer in the 77th minute did the game justice.

The first draw of the tournament was more satisfying for the Slovenians, who not only arrived at the second European Championship in their history, 24 years after the first, but also found themselves on the wrong end of a 17-minute Eriksen goal.

The Danes backed up the partial result with better team play and control of possession.

However, Kasper Hjulmand's team gave up the lead in the second half and allowed an opponent that had shown very little in the first half to grow.

With momentum and the danger generated by Benjamin Šeško, who crashed a shot into Kasper Schmeichel's left post, Slovenia tried to get the equalizer.

And it did with a left-footed shot by Janža from a corner that dislodged the goalkeeper by a deflection off Morten Hjulmand.

Slovenia celebrated the draw in Stuttgart, despite the fact that they still cannot win a match in a European Championship and could never beat Denmark.

England did not play well but defeated Serbia in its Euro debut.

England kicked off Euro 2024 with an opaque 1-0 win over Serbia on Sunday in the opening matchday of Group C. 

Gareth Southgate's side put in a disappointing performance in their opener but at least they came away with the three points thanks to Jude Bellingham's goal 13 minutes into the first half.

England started the match well. Bellingham, who played as an attacking midfielder behind Harry Kane, started very active and was the best of the English team. Bukayo Saka also had a great start, unstoppable on the right during the first half and then less influential. The early goal came from the partnership between the two.

However, as the minutes went by, the intensity dropped and they even gave the ball to Serbia, who came out prepared to wait and in the end had the initiative for a good part of the match.

England were rarely active in attack, but when they did they showed the expected qualities. The problem was their inconsistency in sustaining dominance. In addition, neither Phil Foden nor Kane were at their usual level.

It was a game with few scoring chances, but Serbia with Dusan Vlahovic and Aleksandar Mitrovic (later Luka Jovic came on) always posed a threat to Jordan Pickford, even though they did not end up making that latent danger a reality.

England managed to hold the scoreless despite their poor performance in defense and containment and took a poor victory that at least helps them to start the Euro with a smile on their face.

Eurocopa UEFA 2024: Inglaterra y Países Bajos ganaron por la mínima diferencia en su debut.

En la teRcera jornada de la Eurocopa se registraron los triunfos de Países Bajos por 2 a 1 sobre Polonia y de Inglaterra por la mínima diferencia ante Serbia  mientras que Eslovenia y Dinamarca registraron el primer empate de la Eurocopa.

Triunfos más exigidos que los registrados en las dos jornadas precedentes lo que una idea de la cautela que están adoptando los técnicos de casa combinado a medida que avanza el certamen.

A continuación el detalle de cada partido y el análisis completo del mismo.

Weghorst le dio la victoria a Países Bajos ante Polonia en su debut en la Eurocopa.

Polonia se hizo ilusiones durante todo el partido pero la última sonrisa fue para Países Bajos, en el debut de ambos en la Eurocopa 2024. El equipo de Koeman se sobrepuso a la desventaja inicial y consiguió una trabajosa victoria por 2-1, en los minutos finales, con un gol de Wout Weghorst, en su primer acción tras ingresar.

Irregular durante su estreno en la Eurocopa, frente a la combativa Polonia, la selección de Países Bajos sumó una victoria ajustada gracias a las apariciones de Nathan Aké, asistente en los dos tantos de Cody Gakpo y de Wout Weghorst que bastaron para remontar el gol inicial de Adam Buksa que complicó la existencia al conjunto 'oranje'.

Países Bajos recogió el testigo de las selecciones que deberían llegar lejos en la Eurocopa y saltó al césped del Volksparkstadion de Hamburgo con la propuesta de presentar su candidatura al título. Los hombres de Ronald Koeman, con un único sobresalto esta semana, la ausencia de Frenkie de Jong, tenían ganas de empezar con victoria frente a un equipo con muchos problemas.

El principal, la baja de Robert Lewandowski, con problemas musculares procedentes del último choque amisotoso de Polonia. Sin el delantero del Barcelona, el técnico Michal Probierz sorprendió con la presencia de Adam Buksa, un gigantón de 1,93 centímetros cedido por el Lens en el Antalyaspor turco y formado en el New England de Estados Unidos. Un caso peculiar, el clásico que aparece por los grandes torneos y que se da a conocer siendo prácticamente un desconocido.

Siempre hay algún nombre que aparece de la nada y Buksa, que sentó en el banquillo a Piatek, quizá la opción más lógica para sustituir a Lewandowski, decidió que ese iba a ser él. Y apenas tardó un cuarto de hora en dejar su sello, con un espectacular cabezazo a la salida de un córner lanzado por Piotr Zielinski que sorprendió a Bart Verbruggen. Buksa se elevó por encima de Denzel Dumfries, hizo un giro de cuello de cabeceador de manual y mandó la pelota a la red.

En esos momentos, Países Bajos dominaba el choque casi por completo. Joey Veerman, el sustituto de Frenkie de Jong, se erigió como un buen timón. Por delante, Memphis Depay dejó sus detalles y, sobre todo, Cody Gakpo se convirtió en un azote para Przemyslaw Frankowski por la banda izquierda. Continuamente, una y otra vez, el jugador del Liverpool se empeñó en dejar claro que los extremos están de moda en la Eurocopa tras las exhibiciones de Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala y el buen partido de Yamine Lamal.

Gakpo fue el primero en rozar el gol, a los dos minutos, pero se encontró con una buena mano de Wojciech Szczesny, que durante media hora sostuvo a sus compañeros. También acertó con una estirada magnífica a una volea de Virgil van Dijk y se salvó de recoger la pelota de la portería porque Xavi Simons y Tijani Reijners no afinaron su puntería.

Sin embargo, Szczesny no pudo evitar el empate, obra de Gakpo, que contó con un golpe de suerte porque Bartosz Salamon desvió su disparo desde fuera del área para despistar al meta del Juventus. Y también con la colaboración de Aké, que robó la pelota para asistir a su compañero.

El tanto de Gakpo no desestabilizó a Polonia, que por momentos consiguió dominar la situación para echarse hacia delante y meter miedo a los Países Bajos. De hecho, Kiwior se animó con una subida por la izquierda que acabó con un zurdazo que salvó por los pelos Verbruggen. Fue la penúltima ocasión de la primera parte, que aún viviría un último arreón con la ocasión sobre la bocina de Memphis que terminó con la pelota rozando un palo de la portería de Szczesny.

Polonia vivía en una montaña rusa constante. Casi siempre anduvo equilibrando el partido y cuando Países Bajos pisaba el acelerador, siempre hacía algo para salir de la presión. Y al inicio de la segunda parte, cuando el equipo de Koeman salió como un ciclón, Probierz cambió a tres piezas para dar entrada a Bartosza Slisz, Karol Swiderski y Jakub Moder. Consiguió voltear la situación y Polonia tomó los mandos.

Incluso Zielinski, que sin duda fue el jugador del combinado polaco más inspirado junto a Buksa, pudo adelantar en el marcador a sus compañeros, pero Verbruggen volvió a evitar otro tanto cuando quedaba menos de media hora para terminar el partido. Koeman contestó con la salida de Veerman y de Simons y la entrada de Donyell Malen y Georginio Wijnaldum.

Los dos técnicos parecían estar jugando al ajedrez con victorias parciales para cada uno. Y, los últimos movimientos de Koeman, volvieron a voltear el duelo.

Países Bajos se lanzó a por el segundo gol. Durante el último tramo, vivió en el sector del terreno de juego de Polonia, que definitivamente reculó para aguantar el empate. Comenzó el asedio y empezaron a llegar las ocasiones.

Van Dijk, lo intentó de cabeza; Dumfries también, con un remate cruzado y con otro que sacó Szczesny con los pies; y finalmente, a falta de siete minutos para el final, Wout Weghorst, que acababa de entrar al campo, aprovechó otra asistencia de Aké para dar la victoria a los Países Bajos.

Su tanto alivió al equipo de Koeman, que aún vio peligrar su victoria con un último intento de Swiderski que salvó por los pelos Verbruggen.

Fue el último azote del conjunto de Probierz, que plantó cara con coraje a los Países Bajos, finalmente ganador en su primer duelo gracias a las apariciones de Aké y a los aciertos de Gakpo y Weghorst.

Eslovenia y Dinamarca protagonizaron el primer empate de la Eurocopa.

Eslovenia se recuperó de la desventaja tempranera que había sufrido contra Dinamarca por el emotivo gol de Christian Eriksen y rescató un empate 1-1 en el estreno de ambos seleccionados en la Eurocopa 2024. La igualdad que selló Erik Janža a los 77 minutos le aportó justicia al desarrollo del encuentro.

El primer empate del torneo dejó más satisfechos a los eslovenos, que no solo llegaban con menos pergaminos a disputar la segunda Euro de su historia, 24 años después de la primera, sino que se encontraron rápidamente, a los 17 minutos, con el golazo de Eriksen.

Los daneses respaldaron el resultado parcial con mejor juego de conjunto y en el control de la posesión de la pelota.

Sin embargo, los dirigidos por Kasper Hjulmand cedieron protagonismo en el segundo tiempo y dejaron crecer a un rival que había mostrado muy poco en la primera parte.

Con ímpetu y el peligro que generaba Benjamin Šeško, quien estrelló un remate en el palo izquierdo de Kasper Schmeichel, Eslovenia intentó llegar al empate.

Y lo logró con un zurdazo de Janža a la salida de un córner que descolocó al arquero por un desvío en Morten Hjulmand.

Eslovenia festejó el empate en Stuttgart, más allá de que sigue sin poder ganar un partido en una Eurocopa y tampoco pudo nunca vencer a Dinamarca.

Inglaterra no jugó bien pero venció a Serbia en su debut en la Eurocopa.

Inglaterra comenzó la Eurocopa 2024 con una opaca victoria 1-0 sobre Serbia este domingo en la primera jornada del grupo C. 

El equipo dirigido por Gareth Southgate tuvo una actuación decepcionante en su primer encuentro pero al menos se quedó con los tres puntos gracias al gol de Jude Bellingham a los trece minutos del primer tiempo.

Inglaterra comenzó bien el partido. Bellingham, quien jugó como mediocampista ofensivo detrás de Harry Kane, arrancó muy activo y fue el mejor del cuadro inglés. También tuvo un gran inicio Bukayo Saka, imparable en la derecha durante la primera etapa y luego menos influyente. El gol tempranero llegó por la sociedad entre ambos.

Sin embargo, con el correr de los minutos bajó la intensidad e incluso le cedió la pelota a Serbia, que salió preparado para esperar y al final tuvo la iniciativa durante buena parte del partido.

Inglaterra se activó pocas veces en ataque, pero cuando lo hizo mostró las cualidades esperadas. El problema fue su inconsistencia para sostener el dominio. Además, ni Phil Foden ni Kane estuvieron en el nivel que acostumbran.

Fue un partido con pocas ocasiones de gol, pero Serbia con Dusan Vlahovic y Aleksandar Mitrovic (luego ingresó Luka Jovic) siempre fue una amenaza para Jordan Pickford, a pesar de que no terminó de concretar ese peligro latente.

Inglaterra consiguió aguantar el cero a pesar de su deficiente funcionamiento en defensa y en la contención y se llevó un triunfo pobre que al menos le sirve para arrancar con una sonrisa la Euro.
