Thailand Dropped 10 MK-84 Bombs in Cambodia, Four Exploded: CMAC Report

The Cambodian Mine Action Center (CMAC) reported on August 1 that the Thai air force dropped 10 MK-84 bombs during recent border clashes, with only four detonating. The findings align with Thailand’s admission of deploying F-16 and Gripen jets.

Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn led diplomats and UN officials on a tour of Oddar Meanchey’s Banteay Ampil district, showcasing damage from the 1,000kg bombs. Over 170,000 civilians fled the fighting, with many still fearing renewed clashes despite the July 28 ceasefire.

Thailand’s Air Force claimed its airstrikes targeted military threats, yet one bomb landed in a villager’s home. Analysts criticized the disproportionate use of modern jets against Cambodia’s older artillery.
