Australia won the toss and elect to field first, Sri Lanka batted first, started the inning very well, althought the first wicket has gone very quickly, Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis came to start the innnig, the first wicket has gone very quickly just for 6 runs in 1.5 over, Kusal Mendis dismissed just for 5 runs in 6 balls, next batsman Dhananjaya de Silva came to bat handled the inning and played a very brilliant half-century partnership of 69 runs with Pathum Nissanka, the second has gone for 75 runs in 11.3 over, Dhananjaya de Silva dismissed after scoring 26 runs in 23 balls, next batsman Charith Asalanka came to bat and played well with Pathum Nissanka, the third wicket has gone for 97 runs in 13.3 over, Pathum Nissanka dismissed after playing a very brilliant half-century inning of 40 runs with the help of 2 boundaries in 45 balls, next batsman Bhanuka Rajapaksa came to bat and he dismissed very quickly just for 7 runs as fourth wicket in 14.5 over, the team score was 106 runs, followed by Dasun Shanaka came to bat and he also dismissed just for 3 runs in 5 balls as fifth wicket in last ball of the 16th over, next batsman Wanindu Hasaranga came to bat and he also dismissed just for 1 run as sixth wicket in 17.3 over, next batsman Chamika Karunaratne came to bat and he remains unbeaten for 14 runs in just 7 balls with Charith Asalanka, and Charith Asalanka played a brilliant unbeaten inning of 38 runs with the help of 2 sixes and 3 boundaries in just 25 balls. In this way, Sri Lanka scored 157 runs after losing 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and set a target of 158 runs for Australia.

In this way, Australia chased the target very easily by losing just 3 wickets in just 16.3 overs and won the match by 7 wickets.

Sri Lankan bowlers Dhananjaya de Silva, Chamika Karunaratne, and Maheesh Theekshana got 1-1 wicket.

Australian batsman Marcus Stoinis was selected as the best player of the match, he played a very brilliant unbeaten quick half-century and victory inning of 59 runs with the help of 6 sixes and 4 boundaries in just 18 balls.
