The main religious festival of Muslims is the holy Eid-ul-Fitr. Muslims celebrate two Eids every year. That is why many people forget the intention, rules and takbeer of Eid prayers.

Because Takbeer is the first work of the Eid day. Eid prayer is obligatory for the Muslim Ummah. Here are the intentions, rules and takbeer for performing Eid prayers properly on the day of Eid:

 
Etiquette of Eid prayer-

نَوَيْتُ انْ أصَلِّي للهِ تَعَالىَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ صَلَةِ الْعِيْدِ الْفِطْرِ مَعَ سِتِّ التَكْبِيْرَاتِ وَاجِبُ اللهِ تَعَالَى اِقتَضَيْتُ بِهَذَا الْاِمَامِ مُتَ وَجِّهًا اِلَى جِهَةِ الْكَعْبَةِ الشَّرِيْفَةِ اللهُ اَكْبَرْ

Pronunciation: 'Nawaitu an Usalliyyah Lillahi Taala Rakaatain Salatil Idil Fitri Maa Sittatit Takbirati Wazhibullahi Taala Iqtadaitu Bihajal Imami Mutawajzhihan Ila Jihatil Qabatish Sharifati 'Allahu Akbar'.'

Meaning: I am praying two rakats of Eid-ul-Fitr with an additional 6 takbeers, facing the Qiblah behind this imam and praying for Allah - 'Allahu Akbar'.
 
Rules for praying Eid prayers-
1. In takbeer with imam tahrima say 'Allahu akbar' both hands are tied.
2. Chana reading after tahrima in takbeer-
'Subhanaka Allahumma wa bihamdika wa tabarakasmuka wataala jadduka wa la ilaha gairuka.
3. Then give additional 3 takbeers.
4. Abstaining from one takbeer to another for the amount of three tasbeehs.
5. Raising both hands in the first and second takbeer and releasing it.
6. With the third takbeer both hands should be tied like tahrima in takbeer.
7. Reading Auzubillah-Bismillah
8. Reading Surah Fateha
9. Surah Milano. Then finish the first rakat by bowing and prostrating like regular prayers.
 
Second Rakat-
1. Reading Bismillah
2. Reading Surah Fateha
3. Match the surah.
4. Giving additional 3 takbeers after reciting surah.
5. Raising both hands in the first and second takbeer and releasing it.
6. With the third takbeer both hands should be tied like tahrima in takbeer.
7. Then go to Ruku with Takbir of Ruku.
8. By prostrating-
9. sitting in a meeting; Completing the prayer by reciting tashahhud, darood, dua Masura and returning the salam.
10. Recitation of Takbeer after salutation of Namaz-

اَللهُ اَكْبَر اَللهُ اَكْبَر لَا اِلَهَ اِلَّا اللهُ وَاللهُ اَكْبَر اَللهُ اَكْبَروَلِلهِ الْحَمْد

Pronunciation: 'Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La Ilaha Illallahu Wallahu Akbar Allahu Akbar wa Lillahil Hamd.'
11. Imam Sahib delivered two sermons after prayer.
 
After the Eid prayer, the imam will deliver the sermon and the worshipers will listen to the sermon attentively. However, many have spoken of laxity in not giving sermons. He gave the opinion that the Eid prayer will be performed even if the sermon is not delivered.
 
Extra Takbir-
 
In the case of additional takbeer, many people, including other schools, give 7 takbeers with tahrima in the first rak'a and 5 takbeers in the second rak'a. If someone gives extra 6 takbeer or extra 11 takbeer it will not make the prayer difficult but the prayer will be completed.
 
Reciting the takbeer of the Eid prayer-
 
After seeing the moon of Eid i.e. 30 Ramadan after Iftar, the first thing is to make Takbeer or thanking Allah. Reciting Takbeer by thanking Allah. This is the first work of Eid. Allah Ta'ala has also ordered the reciting of Takbeer in the Qur'an as follows:

وَلِتُكْمِلُواْ الْعِدَّةَ وَلِتُكَبِّرُواْ اللّهَ عَلَى مَا هَدَاكُمْ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ

"And describe the greatness of Allah to you, so that you may be grateful." (Surah Baqarah: verse 185)
 
Takbeer is-

اَللهُ اَكْبَر اَللهُ اَكْبَر لَا اِلَهَ اِلَّا اللهُ وَاللهُ اَكْبَر اَللهُ اَكْبَروَلِلهِ الْحَمْد

Pronunciation: 'Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La Ilaha Illallahu Wallahu Akbar Allahu Akbar wa Lillahil Hamd.'
