Hamburg Commissioner for Personal Data Protection and Freedom of Information Johannes Kaspar temporarily banned Facebook-owned messenger WhatsApp from collecting user data because of a new privacy policy.

The commissioner believes that the company's attempt to force users to agree to the updated policy is illegal. In addition, he appealed to regulators in other European countries, urging them to introduce similar bans. It is assumed that the restrictions for the messenger will be in force for three months.
